Eggs safe to eat by diabetics

I was told that I could eat eggs after my heart attack 14 years ago by the NHS medical staff and nutritionists. Although eggs have Cholesterol it does not affect our cholesterol at all. It is the same with prawns

Its the same with all dietary cholesterol. Has little to no impact on blood cholesterol.

Bum nuts make such a great breakfast that now the entire family has joined me at the table in the mornings. Haven't joined with the low carb bit yet though.

Eggs found safe for diabetics to eat in any quantity despite cholesterol content
Dietary cholesterol doesn't add to our total cholesterol levels. The body needs cholesterol and makes it, it will make more if you don't at it. As has been said, even Ancel Keys, the guy who is responsible on the low fat idea, was quite clear about eating cholesterol wasn't bad, and that was 50+ years ago.

Having said all that, has anybody read https://nutritionfacts.org/2016/03/22/the-effects-of-dietary-cholesterol-on-blood-cholesterol/

Seems you can always find a source where the opposite view is held. As somebody who did as I was told and had one egg a weeks and avoided prawns (because of the cholesterol). I now eat eggs when I wanted and prawns are now back on the menu. The only change to my total cholesterol is that it is much lower and mostly down to low carb (cutting carbs coincided with drop in cholesterol levels).

nutrition "facts" is Greger the vegan's spouting place.. best ignored

best ignored

I'm trying to, but I feel that when somebody reports something that is the opposite to what I have read previously and indeed experienced myself, ignoring it is the same as the medical profession usually ignoring anything "NEW", LC being a prime example. I shall just tolerate the fact that one fly in the ointment hasn't changed my opinion.

And that's fine... why the OMG?
Because of what is being discussed on here. What’s the maximum amount we can consume? I see some people are saying prawns and eggs don’t affect cholesterol levels..so now I’m really confused :|

Which bits have you read that are confusing you?

It isn't "some people" saying this, it is the experts based on evidence and science. Dietary cholesterol does not increase body cholesterol. Simples. This has been known for a long time, although certain groups tried to argue otherwise.. Eggs are good for us, so many essential nutrients. I eat as many as I want. I don't like prawns so don't eat them, but I would eat them if I did.

That reminds of someone I knew in my working career who kept chickens and had a dog.

He was far more impolite than I but he reckoned the dog ate the chicken droppings and the chickens ate the dog mess. That perhaps is real recycling but I wouldnt fancy the eggs! :)
D.

Spitting ferociously at my PC screen.

At our previous house we had chickens (and a goat, several dogs, 3 tortoises, a gold fish and a cat) 100% free range within our boundaries (occasionally outside the boundaries) and even in the kitchen. Sometimes the Durrell's Corfu house reminds me of those times. :) I have never known such delicious eggs. They made the best ever Yorkshire puds, and fried were superb. The yolks were a creamy orange colour. I went out each morning to "pick" them for us.

I have lived off eggs all my life, and never had high cholesterol.

As I have mentioned in other threads regarding eggs, I go through four dozen eggs a fortnight on my own, mostly three egg omelettes and hard boiled eggs in salads.

When we can get prawns at the right price we have a good feed of them.
