What is considered an empty stomach?

I sometimes drink some protein drink about- 1 cup -during the night. I have no idea how close to 730am this is. I'm up around 730 and have to take rybelsus on an empty stomach.

This info from the UK NHS website may help you

As a general rule, medicines that are supposed to be taken on an empty stomach should be taken about an hour before a meal, or 2 hours after a meal. Forgetting these instructions on rare occasions is unlikely to do any harm, but taking these medicines with food regularly may mean they don't work.

It may not be empty after eating in the middle of the night ?
Would I have to make sure then to not eat or drink 1 hour before I get up? Like make sure nothing after 630 am? If I drank the protein drink.

The advice says 1 hour before or 2 hrs after so as long as you haven’t eaten for 2hrs, then going by the advice you should be fine, then you can eat an hour later

Edited to make clearer

The only problem with the general advice quoted by @Loving life is that one of the actions of Rybelsus is that it slows stomach emptying. Here is a link to the specific instructions for taking Rybelsus where it recommends 6 hours fasting before taking the daily tablet, see paragraph 2 of frequently asked questions:
Thanks @Rachox - oops should have done more research on the meds

Going to have to change the timing somehow.
Like take it at one of my earlier hourly bathroom trips. Maybe at 6am even tho I'm not up til 7 or 8.
Because I do have so many bathroom trips I'm very thirsty when I'm finally up.
I don't imagine that's wrong?

Hourly bathroom trips don't sound ideal to me. Are you getting enough sleep and have you spoken to your medical team about them? Do you know what sort of blood sugars you are currently having?
Ya very tired too
I pretty much say sleep is not a part of my life.
Have not spoken to anyone medical about the night trips. I've had procedures done so scary and so painful I can't even talk about them . So I'm afraid to say anything.
I don't measure my blood sugar anymore. They are rarely any good. And it's distressing to me when I can't change them. It makes me feel powerless.
My AIC hasn't been done for going on 9 months. For whatever reason my lab can't find the requisitions from the dr. But in may I will go try again with the paper copy they actually sent in the mail.
I hope I was able to answer your questions.

Poor sleep doesn't help blood sugars, and high blood sugars do increase the need for urination. (But so do lots of other things)

I empathise with your fear of further procedures but I do hope you get more help from your doctor(s) to control your diabetes.
Good luck with the rybelsus

If you do decide to take your Rybelsus at 6am remember to not eat or drink after midnight

I finally read the paper insert in my rybelsus box. Because of having trouble with when I can take it. It only says on an empty stomach. No how many hours or anything just the reference to nothing else for 30 minutes.
So I called my pharmacy and the pharmacist said 2 hours empty is fine. Whew!!

I have to say 2 hours would be ok for someone not on a GLP-1. I think maybe it’s slipped the pharmacist’s mind that delayed stomach emptying is one of the effects of Rybelsus.

Edit to add this link again which specifically says 6 hours:

I'm not sure it will work for me. I was on ozempic for a year maybe and am still hoping it helps my appetite in the pill form I take currently. Its the same drug so if it didn't work in one form will it in another?
I think the insulin doesn't let it. Insulin has made me ravenous since the start many years ago.
And I don't expect it will work for my bs. Nothing has but I hope it helps my hunger. A little. Can I have that? Maybe just one tiny thing. Please.
