Epi pen shot twice help

Hi

My mam received her epi pen yesterday and today was the first day of using it. She had lots of information yesterday but I think it was information overload as she also needs to inject daily for dvt as well now. So they were explaining both at he same time. For a 67yr old I think it was just to much to take in.
She's just rang to say she hasn't used all the insulin. I explained the pen just gives one shot and she doesn't need it all. She said she didn't think it worked so she's done it again. She's basically given herself 2 shots of insulin now. What should she do???

Thanks
Tasha

As l am type 2 no full info but at 67 l would say ring an ambulance as she is very new to all this. If she was experienced l know it has come up before but in her case with it so so new go to hospital and let them help her out.

Don't fully understand. Sorry, your mum has injected her epi pen ? I thought they were just a one-time use in the thigh for anaphylaxis or extreme allergic reactions to bee stings or peanuts etc ? Apologies if I'm reading this wrong. If you mean she's taken twice the amount of insulin ? Depending how much extra, she should keep testing to ensure she doesn't get too low. She can eat extra carbs or a fruit juice or something to mop up the extra insulin ? Is she on her own ?

No I've brought her to mine to keep an eye on her. I've rang and nurse said it's ok, as her blood sugars are so high anyway that it won't do any harm. Thanks, sorry for confusing you all.
