Hi Ray and welcome to the forum, I was on insulin for about twelve months after diagnosis and you do need to carry a fair amount of 'stuff' around with you, dont you

With a testing kit, pen, glucose tabs and or lucozade bottle you need to have some seriously large pockets, I looked at bum bags and the leather man bags but personally felt they looked a bit too, how shall I put this, Italian? for my taste, so I opted for a three quarter sized courier bag which I bought off ebay but they can be found in most high street shops if you cant use ebay.

Bracelet too I bought off ebay and still wear it today even though I am now on oral meds, and a 'I am Diabetic' card I got given free by my diabetic nurse in hospital but the one I use now I got from a web site that allows you to enter your details and print it off http://www.medids.com if you cant access this site then perhaps telephone your meter manufacturers Beyer, Accu Chek etc and ask if they have any they can send you, I am sure the first one I had came via a medical company, sorry I cant remember which one.

Good luck

Me either!

i think most men would walk around with all four jeans pockets bulging to burst before they would get a bag!

Glucose tabs - I carry Dextrose, available from all chemists and probably most supermarkets. Apparently the orange ones aren't nice; I carry original and lemon.

There was a previous thread on here, it may help as you do not have access to websites.

Just move to France, most men carry them here! (and have to carry identity cards, car documents, the cheque books are wider and many still use cheques so maybe thats why its normal) My OH uses one here, but he hasn't had the years of training and I have to keep reminding him not to put it down in shops.
