Extreme chocolate

Marzipan one from threshers on old London Bridge train station used to be my favourite, til I was diagnosed.

London Bridge station is hell on earth now.

There's a whole foods shop just up the road from me (two doors down from a Greggs to provide some balance, with a bookies inbetween so you can place bets on whether veganism or steakbakes will kill you quickest).

It does a stack of cottage industry specialist choc, like Halo, and a hundred and one others which I can't remember the names of. But the problem is they're all so damned expensive - £3.50 a bar for some!

I've not got a sweet tooth, didn't even before I was dx'd, so it's not that much of an issue for me, but there's still a place for the mass produced stuff.

Ritter Sport Marzipan, that's got a surprising sophistication to it. Dark choc and the melt in mouth almondiness of marzipan - a few bits of that are good for a Sugar Surf nudge up instead of dextrotab chalk.

I saw a Ritter Sport Cornflakes a few weeks ago in a shop, but was in a rush so didn't buy it, will have to give that a go sometime - breakfast and dessert combined.

If you're a dark chocolate +marzipan aficionado, you'll doubtless have become acquainted with Niederegger, from Lubeck?

British marzipan is vile.

Because I'm no longer there, ha ha. Well to be far I stopped working in London once I became a mum.
I trained staff on a computer they could use to sell train tickets. Which replaced a printer and modem. I was fed up with masculine uniform and shifts. I turned down fantastic money on Sundays and Nights but I left for 9-5 office based tax clearances which couldn't retain interesting/intelligent staff. I became bored. No decent mentor to learn from. I still miss Law and even Insurance.
Chocolate office treats were more interesting when I worked nights for a Fine Foods distributor. Too unstable though for me to get pregnant or drive to work stressfree at 2.30am. It had loads of advantages thou for low carb cheeses and bacon catering pack discounts. Our house was run on catering packs healthily. I wish I'd be doing low carb then!

Either Montezuma's "Absolute Black" for me (Sainsbury's stocki it) or 90% Lindt - and here's the thing - Lindt 90% tastes absolutely fabulous after "Absolute Black"!

Finish my lunch every day with a small dish of NUTS!! And one piece of 90%. (very disciplined!) Can get it at my local Tesco express and they regularly have it on offer at £1.50. 15p a day, I’m a cheap date

Does this mean it was you bought up all the 100% cocoa chocolate buttons from Hotel Chocolat, so that they are now out of stock? I am getting panicky, as I have hardly any left to tide me over.

I can often smell the smell of Kit Kat being made, it's a common smell in York, once over everybody had at least one family member working at one of the chocolate factories and a ticket for their waste shops, a 2 finger Kit Kat is 13g carbs, 10g of which are sugars, or 6.5g per finger, which is close to the 7g carbs in a rich tea biscuit, a single square of Cadburys Dairy Milk is 5g sugars per square.

I find sometimes I over bolus for my tea and a Kit Kat can be a useful tool for cushioning the drop.

Noooooo, wasn’t me. I went into their shop in Cardiff and all they had left was just one pack of the 100% chocolate batons. Apparently they’re popular with low carb bodybuilders, who are buying them in bulk. Grrrr.

The chocolate batons are MUCH dearer than the buttons.

I think drinking chocolate always contains sugar and maybe milk. Much better to buy cocoa powder and mix your own, perhaps adding a sweetener. I used to drink cocoa made with 3tsp cocoa and no sugar or sweetener or milk. Nowadays I might add double cream, but even plain cocoa powder is too high carb for me, alas. In the days I was buying cocoa, Morrisons sold the lowest carb, if one can trust the info on the packets (which I wonder).

Hotel Chocolat hot choc is actually grated chocolate not powder, and they sell several different varieties of it, so you can choose your sweetness and carb content.

I was given a pack of the stuff (extra dark) and relished every single sip.
You can also tailor make the carb content by adding sugar or sweetener, and using plant milk, nut milk, cows milk or cream. Lots of possibilities for variation.

They have just launched an absurdly expensive posh one-cup-hot-chocolate-'velvetiser' (you can tell its posh cos they spell it chocolat, not chocolate. I mean, how pretentious!), but I found that one of these whisks did the job pefectly for me, and only cost about 70p when I got mine. haha!

I have no idea how many carbs are in any of the above but love them, however all of the above in moderation, so a bar of Lindor would last at least a week

In fact I will try almost any chocolate so long as it has no nuts in it

Thanks Brunneria that sounds like the one for me. Clever marketing calling the machine a ‘velvetiser’ but if Santa was listening.....No I am not that bothered. Will check out the choc flakes though.

Magnesium definitely. Eat on top of a steak then you can sort out the iron too...
