I have the same question and with all due respect I'm wondering if this is all a joke.Why can't you wash it in the sink with the rest of your dishes?

It's called a Wok.
Years ago we use to watch a cookery tv show featuring the Chef Ken Hom, he always insisted that you didn't wash a Wok and just wiped it over with some kitchen paper.

Just had a look on Google and there are a wok load of Ken Hom videos on You Tube, and he has a lot of good stir fry recipes on his website as well.
He was on SBS television here in Australia in the early 2000's, they have lot of cooking shows on it as that station is a ethic broadcaster.Ken's cookery programmes (sure they were on the BBC) were on in the 90's,
Read Kristin's post again. She mentions cast iron because that's what woks are made of, and then she talks about how you have to oil them.
