I was told "we don't want a fasted test any more" so as it was a late lunchtime test and I was hungry, I had a small amount of food. Subsequently I got the full harangue about cholesterol - I hadn't even realised they tested that, and it was well within desired range apart from ldl which was a smidgen higher. Since then I have done a water fast, plenty of water, and last time I was told I only needed an annual test in future, so it can't be that important, can it?
I also did a lot of research on cholesterol figures, and found the requirements for old biddies are quite different from the figures the NHS wants, which are for young males. So really, whatever genuinely drives this pressure to put us all onto statins, I remain unconvinced.
