It's called Dawn Phenomenon. When you wake, your liver dumps some glucose to get you some energy to start the day. So it's quite normal to see a rise in the morning.

I've been t2 for about 6yrs on metformen x4 tabs a day if t2 is in remission at what level should blood sugars be at .
Dn wanted to put me galictizide tabs but I'm told they have a high risk of hypos ( I'm a hgv driver)so not good for me so trying healthy eating all good so far down to 14stone 6 from 15.4
I would speak to your DN and ask that you put off the additional medication for three months whilst you continue to diet and that you are checking you BG levels. Most of us find that by reducing our carbs significantly it can both reduce r BG levels and weight as well
Have a look around the forums and ask any questions as the good folk on here are very helpful

Got a call from my dn tonight asking about new medication told her about diet she very understanding and said the weight loss is good and will see me in 2 months
Hopefully my BG levels will be lower then
