fed up

just a little update :) went to my doctors yesterday and he said hes going to write to him regarding my situation and the way i m feeling, which is all i expected from going tbh hopefully it ll speed things along

I second the advice to change GPs urgently. A GP can prescribe insulin surely? Why are they waiting? Can they not prescribe the insulin you were originally prescribed?

I would imagine the GP is, quite rightly, feeling constrained to interfere in diabetic management when @wiserkurtious is under the care of the endocrinologist. I think the problem here is delay in response from the endocrinologist. Have you tried a complaint to the hospital/PALS - putting a call in to say what your blood sugar is looking like and how long you've been waiting for a response from the endo might get a fire lit under him for some action. Stay safe over the weekend, if you are getting high blood sugar and feeling unwell A&E/walk in centre/111 could all result in insulin and a speedy review by the endo.

Seems absurd to me, I can't understand why a type 1( who has high BS, no Insulin, hasn't been given the correct care and medication) Surely a telephone call from your gp to the hospital diabetes( endo) team should of been made and NOT in writing, unbelievable :banghead::mad:

So sorry to hear of this @wiserkurtious - this is both a shocking and frightening position to be in, the high bg levels are not going to help how you are currently feeling @catapillar has hit the nail on the head - get yourself into hospital and tell them you are feeling unwell are type 1 and do not have insulin, personally I would not leave until you are prescribed, then follow it up with a complaint when you are feeling better. Priority is to get on insulin today. You have patient rights so do not let anyone fob you off, personally I would take you in myself :)

Or just a thought.. if you have been previously prescribed insulin then it should be on your file, so you could go into Boots and ask them to give you a prescription of your insulin, you may have to pay as it's an emergency but all they do is check what's on your repeat and then prescribe it - what insulins were you on ?

that emote is exactly how i feel!! having me do blood glucose tests than saying i now need a antibodies test!!!!hmmmmmm i had all this done 2 years ago my sugars are running high now!!!!!!!!!!!!! i can t wait for these tests which they take 3 weeks to get back to me btw rang a few days after the test and his receptionist told me she couldn t do anything with the result until my consultant looked at them then saying he was on annual leave so i was waiting for a reply through post or phone nothing came of it.last week i rang up to see what was happening she said there was a issue with sending me a letter out "oo ok fine not like my sugars have been running high or anything"she told me to calm down she trying to help me!!!!!at the point in time i feel i m getting no help whatsoever,i m soooooooooooooooo frustrated right now

sugars running 12 atm had about 60 carbs today nothing since 12

update; So i rang 111 yesterday and they told me to go into a sit and wait last night.went in and got seen told her my situation and she said she couldn t prescribe me anything but put it in writing my situation to my consultant!!!! sugars on waking 10.5 sugars before meal 8 .7 30 carbs sugars after 15 these numbers are the norm atm not comfortable at all for me,be ringing my consultant on monday

13 ,3 before meal!!!! feeling ***** but have to eat had very little today

This is horrendous : (

I can't think of anything polite to say. Could you go to A & E if your BS gets higher. I second the advice to make a complaint. I'd be wording it very forcefully.

i m kinda hoping for keytones to be taken serious tbh but low atm, im ringing consultant tomorrow and i m going to rant at him for sure

Hope you get this sorted, mate. With the luck you're having the test results will probably come back and say you're pregnant...
