Ok - gonna vent my spleen a bit, nothing you havent heard a thousand or more times before:
Went for an appt with the nurse today for smear, HBA1c, weight, bp.
Won't bore you with the smear details
Anyway, took weight and despite losing 21lbs since dec - not a word, no encouragement, no 'well done', nada.
Took blood and asked why I've come for HBA1c, told her cos 3 months since the last and doc said I'd get 3 months to try diet/exercise alone (hint to you honey - check my weight)
I then asked what did I weigh last time, just curious - she couldnt find it, i said 'don't matter, I know I've lost'
I guess I'm a bit needy and want someone to acknowledge how hard ive worked.  lol
Then asked about test strips AGAIN and showed her my lovely graph with the blips and what food had caused them , latest was beetroot on salad - now removed. She said the usual - not on insulin, not on meds yada yada yada. Told her how ridiculous it is, if I followed their outdated advice I would soon be able to have my strips free cos they would send me onto insulin.
To be fair she said it is down to cost, she kept her professional face on without condoning or condemning the NHS advice.
She said if I was under the hospital I would probably get them but the GP's wouldnt continue them cos of cost. With the exception of a retinopothy appt anything i've had done (2 HBA1c tests) have been arranged off my own back, I did also ask whether being psychic is a side affect i could look forward to as I've been told nothing by them. She didn't answer that one lol
Looking forward to my results next week and if they are not good and doc says meds, at least I can say hand on heart I tried my best and meds it must be.
AND if I do get the good result I'm expecting, if that nurse, gp or practise try to use MY data for their 'success' stats or stories I'll be bloody furious (though I'm sure I'll never know)
ok thanks
Feel better
