Over the xmas period I let my diet slip a little by drinking alcohol and having a few desserts so now I'm just feeling bit bad I fell off the wagon and to make me feel worse my partner says I'm not taking this seriously
I am and I've been on the keto diet since almost as soon as I found out
I just want to understand how having diabetes type 2 can affect my day to day life to help me understand better
Like I said in previous posts gp has not been helpful

If you're doing keto and suddenly overload on carbs, yes you will feel bad. Don't beat yourself up, just climb back on the wagon.

Hello and welcome,

From your information it looks like you are quite young and not obese. So it is worthwhile considering whether you have been correctly diagnosed as type 2. However, assuming you have been my first thought is don't neat yourself up. Hope back on the wagon- there are many people here offering you a hand up back on the wagon.

First of all it is hard to navigate occasions such as Christmas eating totally differently form your usual. Start planning for the next occasions- start thinking about keto desserts. One of my favourites is keto custard and diet jelly. My husband makes them in a little glass container and puts some cream on top. They look nice and less than 1 gram of carbs each- I can safely have 2 after dinner and still keep well within keto.

Alcohol? well we have that covered also. You can have clear liquors- think vodka, gin, Bacardi its with a diet mixer. At my work Christmas party I drank my first every tequila shot and kept my levels under control. So plan ahead. You can also have some wine but pick those with less carbs.

Jump back on the wagon and join us- you will soon be the person offering a hand to someone else wanting to get back on the wagon. Don't beat yourself up- this is a way of life not a diet and some of us (me) need to get that through my brain. I have kept on it because for me there is no alternative e. I also have a very supportive family. My soon to be daughter-in-law made some low carb truffles- yummy thankfully all gone now as I could way overdose on them.

Good luck!

Congratulations. Your HbA1C is still high at your last test, but is coming down. Your HDL has improved a little and your Triglycerides have improved a lot.
Those show that it is/was working - so get back on that waggon!

Hi thank you for the replies.
I got diagnosed during normal blood work then few weeks later I got blood work to check and it was confirmed I had type 2 diabetes

Sorry I've not said anything my oldest had a positive result in her covid so new yr and these few weeks been difficult

I've gone from weighing 80kg to 77kg so that's what I'm most proud of as never been good with losing weight and I've stopped eating in the middle of the night
I start my second chance programme tomorrow and my excersise programme on the 15th as well been difficult to excersise as been in self isolation

Don't worry too much about exercise programs. Once you start to feel better with lower blood glucose then exercise comes naturally.
These days, with not going out as much, I dance around the kitchen to my music tapes.
