Feeling unwell

After a number of years on medication for T2 I was started on insulin on 23rd Dec, which was to be increased by 2 units every 3rd day, so on 26th Dec was my first increase - since that day (boxing day) I have been feeling really unwell, first few days had excessive diarrhoea, which has since settled down, (I have IBS), problem is I'm not sure if this is a flare up of the IBS or related to the insulin - I have had very painful abdominal cramps, so today (rightly or wrongly) I have had a liquid diet only and not taken any medication. I have been extremely weak, with absolutely no energy whatsoever
Does anyone have any thoughts on the flare up vs Insulin which may have caused me to feel so unwell
 
You do not mention what your bloods are running at?
 
BG have been coming down slowly but surely since started on the Insulin, average is now 10.7, I have been instructed to call Nurse on 6th Jan, and to stop increasing insulting when results get below 10.
Had Protein with fruit shake at 4.45pm, BG at that time was 7.5 (had nothing to eat all day), still feeling lousy.
 
Had to ask about blood levels as if doseage was severely wrong and your bloods very high then that can impact on health.. So apologies for having to ask.

I've never heard of insulin causing somach problems myself... But not aware if they are actually listed under any of the side effects for the actual insulin you are on. Worthwhile reading the info on the paper inside the boxes.

There are huge amounts of bugs n viruses etc going around currently for stomachs... But it could well be a flare up of ibs. I take it that you have seen a gastroenterologist to get the diagnosis of ibs?
 
Thanks for response, and no apologies necessary - I have had the IBS for 30 years, and can become quite ill with it, fortunately I haven't had a flare up for a few years, and am wondering if this is purely coincidence, or if the Insulin is to blame - guess I just have to wait until the Nurse is back to find out what I should be doing
 
I have lived with IBS for 40 years and have been on insulin - humalog 25 - for 4 years and I would not think it is the insulin. I would think it more likely that you have eaten something that you do not normally eat and it has upset you. Let us know hw you get on.
