Fiasp insulin

Does anyone use fiasp insulin in their t slim pump. I know that you're not supposed to but a lot of people do because it absorbs faster than novorapid.

I use Ljumjez in mine and again unlicensed but absolutely fine, starts working straight away and as novorapid wasn't working great my DSN was more than happy to prescribe it.

I use Fiasp in my Medtrum pump with no problems.
(I don't have T-Slim)

And I use Fiasp perfectly fine in my Medtronic 780g (and the previous 670g) - also not officially licensed for either of them

I use Lyumjev in my Medtronic 780g, although not T-Slim and definitely not licensed for it. It’s surprising how many do use insulins that are not licensed for their pumps and how many DSN’s actually recommend it or are happy to prescribe it.

I use Lyumjev in my tslim, been using it about 6 months and no problem. My nurse was more than happy to let me use it.

Just a note if you are thinking about using Fiasp: it is quirky and takes some time to get used to.
I have been using it for a few years now and love it once I got used to its quirks. The main one is, for me, the speed it works is highly dependent upon my BG.
If my BG is in double figures, it can feel as if I am bolusing water until suddenly after more than an hour, my BG will plummet. So it is doubly important not to rage bolus.
On the other hand, if my BG is in the 4s, it will start working immediately - faster than I digest the food. So, I have to bolus after eating when my BG is at this level.
But, when my BG is in "normal" range (between about 5.5 and 8.5), I can bolus just before eating.

I used Fiasp with Omnipod 5 for a couple of months, then Lyumjev for a few months and am now back to Fiasp. My diabetes nurse checked both out beforehand and found no issues. Maybe it’s a question of long-term alternating? From observation, one isn’t significantly faster than the other.

Has anyone used Aspart in their pump? I had to switch to it from Novolog a few weeks ago and my prior excellent TIR of over 80%, frequently 100% TIR, has plummeted. It’s supposedly the generic for Novolog, but what else would explain it? Nothing else changed. Idk…..

Hi Prancy,

Would you like mods to move your question to its own thread? It may help people to see the question and hopefully get some replies :)
