Hello,
I'm sure you and your son will be finding it tough to deal with, it's not easy managing diabetes - but it does get easier with time.
You will receive more feedback from forum members with more detailed posts. "OK" blood sugars tend to vary between diabetics, especially those who have recently been diagnosed. If your son has been diagnosed with T1D then it's likely that his bloods have been soaring for weeks. The doctors often like these high readings to come down gradually rather than suddenly. So the typical guidance for blood glucose values may not apply to your son just yet. They should have told you figures to aim for.
It is common for headaches to present as a symptom of high blood sugar.
What was his BGL at 2020?
Is he T1D?
Is he receiving insulin treatment?
It is also common for recently diagnosed diabetics who have just started taking insulin to experience blurred vision. This may be one possible cause for your son's headaches. It may be, however, that your son simply had a headache. Not all ailments can be attributed to diabetes.
