hi guys thought i would post an update on my morning readings since i got my meter
thu 6.7
fri 6.7
sat 7.0
sun 6.1
mon 6.0
all post meals have been under 8 apart from wed night 9.0
my original fasting reading at the nurse was 9.2 back in july
so it goes to show getting a meter is the best thing to do regardless of what the NHS say
Well done!!! Your morning readings are certainly better than mine are, although I can see they are gradually coming down. I do happen to like the LCHF approach, particularly as I need to lose a lot of weight. As you say, it's individual opinion, once you've digested the facts, and you need to see what works best for you. Everyone is individual
Now that you're testing (and well done for not taking notice of being told you, as Type 2, don't need to test

) may I suggest you also test at 1 hr after starting your meal and again at 2 hrs. Obviously, test just before you start your meal too. These 3 readings are likely to show your starting point, where your gluclose levels go within the first hour (which may well be higher) and then settle down at 2 hrs. By only testing at 2 hrs, you could be missing a higher reading, although, as your morning levels are pretty reasonable, it couldbe that you don't particularly spike - but that will depend on what carbs you ate at the meal.
One of the benefits I just love with being on LCHF is that I now have cream so, for dessert I usually have a little of fruit yoghurt (Muller Lite as it seems to have the lowest carbs. I don't like Greek Yogurts unless fruit) some douible cream and also maybe about 8 raspberries. I've discovered the cream helps slow down the absorption of sugars and so I don't spike

Great way to finish my low-carb main course as I have a very sweet tooth. Even with that, I'm losing weight
