Evening Lovely People,

Hubby had his first review since diagnosis and we are very pleased with his results. (HbA1c should have been done in September ? but surgery was running behind so he had it done early November)

Diagnosed in June with HbA1c of 11.1 (98 in old money) tested at start of November and it was down to 7 !! Not there yet but I think that is an 80% improvement.

all other tests were normal, eyes normal, feet normal. Cholesterol up slightly but ratio improved and I think this is quite common initially (?) has lost over a stone in weight, low carb diet all the way (with homeopathic support) and not a single prescription drug swallowed. DN was suitably chastened and even brought herself to tell him how well he was doing (twice in fact !)

We are delighted with the progress so far and a big 'thank you' to all your supportive people on this forum. Couldn't have done it without you :cat::cat: xx

Wonderful news! Well done to you both. Keep doing what you're doing.

Brilliant, well done to you both.
Just a small point, the 11.1 is the old money!! The 98 is the new money :)

Great result, the ratio is much more important than the overall number as you questioned.

Well done to your partner on his great reductions in HbA1c and weight. :)
And well done to you too for supporting him in his life changes.

Is it really ?? Hubby's diabetic nurse told him the opposite and our surgery give HbA1c in percentages....hardly inspires confidence does it ?!

Yes, it's true. The formula changed several years ago - about 2011 I think. The old percentage system is still used by some labs but most are now on the new mmol/mol system.
