Never had any chocky easter eggs this year. First time in my life. Never found an egg that I was able to have. What a bummer eh?
Some say this high coco chocky is ok but it's still high in carbs so how can it be?

Not at all. Choose an 80% bar or above and a couple of squares have negligible carbs.

It’s all down to portion control in my opinion. I often eat a couple of squares of high percentage chocolate or a couple of Hotel Chocolate 100% buttons after dinner.
I’ve been given a Lindt dark chocolate egg today which will last me for months, literally.

Because most people choose the high cocoa content and only have a square or two. Hotel Chocolat (which I know is expensive) did a large range of delicious chocolate eggs at all percentages. Of course that would mean it would last for months but it is delicious.

I eat a few tabs of high % choc as a treat most evenings, with little or no adverse effect on BG. At this very moment I'm nibbling on 85% although my preferred is now a 93% choc. I did once try 99% but found that all the joy had been squeezed out of it. You'll find that as the % increases over about 75% the carbs continue to reduce significantly so it's worth experimenting to see how high a % you can live with.

Hotel Chocklit 100% buttons for the win! I was given two packs for Easter by my lovely husband. They’ll last a week each :D (possibly)

90% Lindt dark with a dab of almond butter and a sprinkle of non sweetened toasted coconut. 1 square is plenty even from a reformed compulsive sweet eater.

@Mel dCP Is there anywhere you can buy Hotel Chocklit buttons apart from an HC shop? I’d love to try them. Thanks

Lint do a 90% coco chocy bar = 14g of carbs and 7g sugar. Say each bar has 10 squares = 1.4g of carbs per square.
How many squares would be exeptable to a T2 diabetic?
I know no squares would be the best option but I miss my chocky.

How many is up to you and what your meter tells you.

Make your own. Buy a mold and enjoy playing.

On their website or Amazon :) Lidl sometimes do a really good 95% chocolate bar that doesn’t affect my levels and I usually stock up when they have it in.

I was thinking of having 2 squares as pudding after my tea.
2.4g of carbs and 1.4g of that sugar.
That's what I have sometimes..seems ok for me.. but then I don't have pastry or potato or any starch for dinner....ever.

EVIL.
I had me tea and was looking forward to eating a bit of chocky again.
90% coco chocolate. It was EVIL. 1/2 a square I had and I struggled with that.
What a disapointment. Won't be touching that again.
Anyone want a bar of chocky with 1/2 a square missing?

If you’re not used to such strong chocolate, it takes some serious getting used to. You need to work your way up the strengths rather than dive right in to 90%. One way to use it and get your chocolates hit, is to melt it into some double cream and let it cool. You’ll get a nice heavy mousse/ganache type thing you can eat with a spoon :)
