Flu Jabs

Its not only pharma companies that get big money. The gudelines from our governments set the targets for GP's to hit for their payments too.
Target driven pay for GP's is influencing the way drugs are heaped out like flu shots and statins. The trouble is the share prices of all these pharma companys is so high that only top paid persons like those in governmental jobs etc can afford them from the public domain. So once again the knock on effects from governments hit the patients but make governments and the gp's and the pharmas richer.
Makes me wonder what other countries do regarding flu jabs....
No way will I have it. It is not natural to pump our bodies with chemicals that are in the flu vaccines.
 
For a bit of context, look at what is happening to the polio vaccine programme in Nigeria. Conspiracy theories about vaccination programmes are becoming rife in the Third World in particular and pose one of the most serious threats to health globally. I'm no expert on flu vaccine -- but I think this anti-immunization mindset is knee-jerk and dangerous.
 
The reason I have the flu vaccination is because I am asthmatic and am prone to getting chest infections which make me ill for many months. I wouldn't have them if I didn't feel I personally was at risk from the wider complications of flu. I wouldn't have them simply because I am in a risk group. I am actually in 3 of the defined risk groups.
 
My grandmother had the flu jab every year.
And every year she had unspecified aches, pains, loss of appetite and felt under the weather for the next 6 weeks.
My sister tried it once. Same thing happened to her.

No way will I have it.

I've had flu twice in 47 years. Not pleasant, but I would rather have it once every 25 years than a questionable jab that may make me feel rough for an eighth of the year.
 
I am with Jack the lad on this one .No one knows what strain of flu. Will be around this year and as far as I can find out the flu jab only seems to be effective on certain strains so it could be totally ineffective also I am not happy with the chemicals that are in the solution

I actually got sort of bludgeoned last year in to having a flu jab (in December). By a different gp to the one I mentioned above.
I ended up having 5 really bad colds in 5 months and chest infections starting Dec 28th. I'm an outdoors person working and hobbies. I very rarely come in to contact with many people. So not as if I work in a school or hospital.
I've rarely had colds in 50 years, so something must have made my immunity system so low and the only thing different last year was that I had a flu jab.. Something knocked my system totally... I ended up having two lots of combined strongest antibiotics to get the 'bug' out of my system. This was after having one lot of string antibiotics that was meant for mouth infection..and tooth out. I ended up having spirometry tests, phlegm tests, blood tests and chest xrays and all clear!
So I will never have a flu jab again as I will never risk the fact that it may have really upset my immune system in other ways.
 
Billion of dollars was not the aim of Jonas Salk and Thomas Francis ( they developed the first vaccine against flu viruses ) also a few years later Jonas Salk developed the polio vaccine.
After many years of scaremongering these vaccines are used world wide,hence your million dollar empire.
My simple point is these leading scientist and researchers are in this for a good reason, which is cures of illness and our long healthy life.
leave the greed to the share holders, governments and some of us
Also where on earth did you learn that most Doctors will not have Jabs.
Doctors and other medical professionals are normal people that also get sick etc; and they take the same medical advice and treatment jabs etc; as we all do. ( The Doctors I have the pleasure to know have received many vaccines much to their "ouch" approach.)

Obviously there treatment areas are kept to a high hygiene standard as to avoid infection from patients etc;
 

I had all the mass injection programs of populations.
Measles, mumps, rubella, polio, TB, etc

My kids have had all the mass injection programs.
diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, Hib. meningitus, MMR, HPV (cervical cancer) vaccine.

So, personally, I'm in favour of mass injection programs.

I've also had all other sorts of injections, yellow fever, smallpox, hepatitis, cholera, for travel, for work, so one more isn't going to hurt me much.
But now I've read this, I'm also going to check I have had the pneumonia vaccine when I go in this year.

The good news is once you get it that's it for life unless you have certain medical conditions, they say people who are at a heightened risk of developing a pneumococcal infection should receive the jab, this includes people with diabetes.

I got mine around 5 years ago.
 
Touchwood ive never had any side effects from the Flu jab apart from a sore arm where the needle went in for a day or two afterwards

That would depend on whether you have other medical conditions, just had a look John and WebMD says the following:

Pneumococcal Vaccine Schedule
How it is given: By injection.

How often/when to get it: One-time vaccination for healthy adults. Re-vaccination after five years is recommended for people with chronic kidney failure or other conditions that lower resistance to infection and for people over 65 who received the first vaccination before age 65.

It might well be your HCP's want you to have it every 11 years due to your diabetes, mine just said that's it for life unless there's any other medical issues.

That sounds good in theory, but the statistics simply do not support this assertion.


Because study after study, and master studies that compile the results from several studies to get a more objective result, keep coming to the same conclusion: Flu vaccines DO NOT WORK, and in many cases do more harm than good.

Then, in 2003, just after children aged five and under started getting vaccinated, the number of flu deaths SKYROCKETED. The death toll was enormous compared to the previous year, when the flu vaccine was not administered en masse to that age group!

How anyone can consider a strategy that yields a higher death toll to be a "success" is a mystery to me.

How Effective Is the Flu Vaccine?
Remember that the potential effectiveness of a flu vaccine is dependent on the ASSUMPTION, made nearly a year in advance, that Asia's viral strains will be the ones hitting the U.S. When they guess wrong, the vaccine is worthless from the very start.

But does that mean they withdraw the flu vaccine when they discover it contains the wrong strains? NO! They just keep giving it out anyway.

But even if they were to overcome that hurdle and actually select the correct strains, there's still no evidence that it does anyone any good to get a flu vaccine.

How about this quote taken directly from the flu vaccine FLULAVAL's package insert ....

FLULAVAL is an influenza virus vaccine indicated for active immunization of adults 18 years of age and older against influenza disease caused by influenza virus subtypes A and type B contained in the vaccine. This indication is based on immune response elicited by FLULAVAL, and there have been no controlled trials demonstrating a decrease in influenza disease after vaccination with FLULAVAL."

I haven't bothered watching the video in this link.
There's a very interesting read from top to bottom though.
This kind of info and similar is available from many sources mostly reliable along with the crazier conspiracy sites.
Not even the NHS can provide figures though that back up any claim to this stuff doing what it's supposed to.

@JACKTHELAD I follow all your arguments and wish I feel I could manage without the jab too. My experience has been that I have had so many chest infections which I have not been given antibiotics for that I am worn out with it all. I can't face being ill like that anymore. I do what I can to boost my immune system, but I have a real fear of having a chest/throat infection now. One year I had 7 lasting 3+ weeks each. I was exhausted and so was my body. All that inflammation did me no good at all, so I accept the flu jab albeit with trepidation.

Zand I'm no doctor or specialist.
You should always do what you think is best for peace of mind.
My peace of mind is to not have the flu jab.
I have only had flu once in my life and that was when Tony Blair and George Bush were lying us into war with scare stories about biological weapons reaching us within the hour etc etc ... I was lying in my soaking bed hardly able to breath or stand thinking ... Saddams got me!!!!
Anyway .... one point of view is never enough ... especially when it comes to governments as far as I'm concerned.
I am offering up the opposite point of view hopefully backed by science.
My intention isn't to scare though that may well happen.

I wasn't criticising you at all Jack. I'm envious because I would like refuse them too. I also wasn't saying I feel that having a flu jab is the right thing to do. I felt so helpless when I got ill with chest infections and pneumonia and have wasted too much of my life laid low with them, I can't bear the thought of being ill like that again.
