I am flying to Italy in the morning and will only have hand luggage. This is the first time I have flown since starting on Insulin.

Any advice would be appreciated

I've flown many times with my insulin. Make sure it doesn't get checked-in the hold if the overhead lockers are full or if it does, keep the insulin and tester with you. I've never had any problems with airport security; I don't declare it and they don't spot it in the X-Ray machines but do have your prescription with you and original med packing.

as daibell says, never put insulin in any hold luggage. Also if you're travelling with someone else, split your medical supplies 50/50 and also take twice as much as you think you'll need - just in case.

I double up on insulin, needles and tablets etc, the wife will carry half of it and my basal insulin pen and I'll carry the other half with my bolus pen, plus spare one. Worse case scenario, my bag gets nicked I can swap the insulin in the basal pen as and when required (along with the needle!).

I am flying to Vienna in a month with college, and is my first time since being diagnosed. Would also like advice

If you are flying easy jet who only have one bag rule for hand luggage, you can take an extra one to put meds in, just let them know at assistance desk.

Pack twice as much of everything as you think you'll need. Keep all your medical, stuff in your hand luggage. Take a doctor's letter saying you're carrying sharps and insulin, etc, and also take a copy of your prescription.

Tell check in and security what you have on you and you should be fine :)
