I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in late January and have been having really foamy urine since early February. I told my doctor and got blood and urine tests but nothing unusual came up. I have been in the honeymoon period since mid February so my blood sugar is under control at the moment but I still get foamy urine. Does anyone here know the cause?

If your doctor hasn't found anything in your blood or urine, then he's hopefully ruled out excess protein (kidney damage) and a urinary tract infection.

Are you dehydrated, is your urine dark in colour or only foamy in the morning?

What about this as a cause; seems daft but is entirely possible:

"Normally, urine does not appear foamy. However, sometimes some foam develops depending on the speed of urinating."

My urine is consistently foamy but more so in the morning. It is usually a light yellow colour and I don't think I am dehydrated as I drink 2L of water a day.

When my blood sugar's were really high, my urine was foamy all the time. I used to be able to judge by the shade of my urine if my sugar's were stable or very high.
I don't have a suggestion as to why you're having this, but this i my experience.
