Freestyle Libre 2 - constant false signal loss alarms

I have the same problem. Alarm signal lost. It happens constantly. So annoying. So far 3 sensors replaced. But they still have the same problem. I really want alarms to work as I drive for a living and legally need levels to be 5 or above. And I sometimes have hypos when asleep. I have a Huawei P30 phone which they is compatible. I'm wondering whether to get one of their on scanners. Does anyone use one of these? And are they any good?

I believe the scanners only work with type 1 sensors not the type 2

I have a Libre scanner and they work very well, the only downside is the battery doesn’t last too long. The first few months you’ll get a good couple of weeks out the battery but after that it’ll need charging twice a week.

Abbott are aware of app problems as I have discussed mine with them and they sent me a scanner free of charge.

To confirm they have different scanners so you will need a Libre 2 scanner if you want the alarms to work.

I have a Libre2 and only use the reader which works perfectly well and alerts me of highs and lows and the bluetooth works at quite a considerable distance.

I was having endless signal loss on my phone and just today managed to get Abbott to send me a reader. Hope the alarms work, that's all I want. A CGM without having to scan would be perfect. any advice @miahara ?

The alarms work well, all you need to do is set them to the levels you would like and this is easily done via the 'settings' button on the reader.

Hi all,

I have been using my FL2 for a little while now, since February I think, available on the NHS as I am just about to start the fertility process for my girlfriend and I to have a baby, which is fab.

What is not so fab is for the last three or four sensors, my phone (samsung s9) has been adamant that I am having notification issues multiple times a day. It beeps (v. loudly) and says that my notifications are not currently available. I can dismiss the alarm, or click the button which takes me to the settings, but, dear reader, in full transparency, let me tell you, there is nothing on my phone not allowing notifications through. I know because shortly before or after, I will have been alerted by an alarm, so it's incorrect!!

Has anyone else had this as a problem, or managed to fix it?

I've called the number to speak to someone in the Czech Republic about it, but they just keep sending me new sensors....

Hello! So, I’m fairly new with the Libre 2, but I’ve had the same problem since first installing it (2 years maybe). I thought it was normal and something I couldn’t do anything about until recently.
I went on holiday this year and I really needed those alarms to work. Needles to say, the signal loss repeating itself every five minutes was unnerving.
Two days ago, I googled about it until I ended up on the LibreLink website. They said to not close the app and let it work in the background (which I thought it was already doing). Anyway, I thought about it and I decided to open it and then exit. Usually when I use stuff on my phone, after I’m done, I swipe up to close apps so my battery doesn’t run out. Well, I was doing the same with this one.
After opening the app, scanning the sensor, exiting the app, and making sure I didn’t swipe the app and it’s still there, I waited to see if the alarm for signal loss rings again. It didn’t. It’s only been two days, this is third, but I had absolutely no more signal loss.

A few days ago the app wouldn't work and I had to upgrade to the Freestyle 2 app. It was fine for a day. Now I keep getting annoying alarm I can't shut off. I have turned all the alarms off except for the mandatory low glucose alarm at 55. But my sugar is 85 right now and it keeps going off. Even after shutting the app and restarting the phone. I'm open to anything that will make this stop pestering me. Or I'm going to see if I can go back to the Freestyle 1.

How are you acknowledging the alarm? It needs to know you've seen it, which you can do by either dismissing the actual notification in the status bar at the top of the screen, or scanning the sensor.

I just tap on the notification which opens the program. I just want it to stop false alarming.

My husband uses the Libre 2. It worked great until this summer when it updated, that you no longer need to scan every 8 hours to get your reading. Now the out of range alarm keeps going off, even if he is holding his phone. it goes off multiple times a night even though the phone is right beside him on the night stand. We have phoned for help and all they offer is to send us the scanner. We do not want the scanner as it is just one more thing for him to carry in his pocket. We want this to work the way they say it does. We can not shut the alarms off as we need to have the low alarm active as he sometimes drops during the night. Getting really frusterated.

When the alarm goes off, it needs to know you have seen it. So scan it with the phone. A banner appears at the bottom of the screen to say scan is complete. You shouldn't get another alarm until levels have gone back into normal and then go out of range.

SWITCH THE OUT OF RANGE ALARM OFF! It is pretty unnecessary. The high and low alarms are what are important. Haven’t had my out of range alarm on for ages. There are bound to be glitches in the technology and we don’t want to be hearing them constantly.

When we go to turn that alarm off, it tells us that the high low alarms will also be turned off. Is there a way to just turn the one off and leave the other two on?

He has an Iphone 13. Libre tells us everything is compatible with his phone.

I just go into alarms on the app. It lists the 3 low/high/signal. I just switch signal to off. Doesn’t affect the other 2. When driving long distances on my own I also switch high alarm off. Then if an alarm goes I know I need to take action. They work independently on my I Phone 12 mini and I don’t use any add ons.

I don't have iOS experience, but I recall bluetooth and NFC problems with some Apple phones, but I doubt the iPhone 13 would have thos issues.

Is anything else connected via BT to the phone or even any other devices close by using BT that might be conflicting?

If you have an Apple shop nearby you might get some help there getting the hardware checked.

Hopefully some other Apple users will chip in to help.

I have just started using Libre 2 sensor with the reader as my current Motorola doesn't have NFC so is not compatible with the app. The diabetes specialist nurse at the hospital clinic told me to switch off the high glucose (probably thought it would be going off all the time . . Hmm! ) and after a couple of false alarms I switched off the signal loss alarm. It seems to work all the time, alarms go off in the night or before meals if I'm going low with no apparent incidents of signal loss. As the reader is small I keep it in my pocket or nearby. I looked up this thread because I was thinking of trying to change my phone so that I could use the app with the extra features it provides but I'm rather put off now. Are there any phones the app works well on or is it just constantly disrupted by updates on the phone or from Abbott?

My sensor works 99 percent of the time. Until we go into 1 particular restaurant in our small town. Then the notifications beep constantly that it couldn't get a reading. A dim not trying to get a reading! It is so constant and annoying, I end up turning my phone completely off until we leave the restaurant. It's happened 3 of the 3 times we've been there! Anyone else have this issue? What could it be?
