Freestyle libre on prescription

Im a type 2 insulin dependant diabetic and ive been told by my optician that I need to more carefully manage my sugar levels as my retinal damage is getting to a critical point. Ive been looking at the Freestyle Libre with interest, but at nearly £60 for two weeks monitoring is beyond my budget. I understand that it could be available on the NHS if certain criteria is met and wondered if anyone here has managed to get it on prescription? I have a blood sugar monitor, but this system looked as though it would give me immediate results and help me to keep on track more effectively.

I know 2 people with type 2 diabetes on insulin and they both get Libre on prescription . I buy my own but I am not on insulin .
