Hi I know the libre sensor is only licensed and recommended to wear on the upper arm but today I decided to try the top of my thigh as Iv having issues keeping them on my arms (keep knocking off, skins sensitives) but for the last 5 hours it’s been giving me way off readings from my finger prick tests! Iv seen more and more people wearing the sensors in other places than the arm and was just wanting to know are these issues because Iv put it in a different place or does it take a sensor longer to calibrate in different areas? thank you Danielle x

unless you're a particularly violent hugger or other intimate actions there's no risk of knocking it off, but I can't speak for skin issues as I've not experienced any of that myself.

This article won't give you a complete answer, but you might find it helpful:

I'm afraid Abbott will tell you to only wear the sensor on the back of the arm. I think it's because that's the site used for their testing and the licence is based on that site.

However, because I can only use one arm - for blood taking, blood pressure and sensor (I had Breast cancer, tumour excised plus several (clear) lymph nodes - hence being strongly advised not to have bloods, blood pressure done on this arm, and includes sensors - still clear 6 yrs after :) ) I have tried various alternative sites and had excellent readings.

1 - I place the sensor 24 hours before activating - seems to get better readings from the start
2 - I've used abdomen, avoiding radius of approx 3" around belly button
3 - I'm currently on 2nd sensor on my thigh, just slightly off-centre towards inside of thigh, and I've had really accurate readings.

I do think placing the sensor 24 hours before activating makes a huge difference to the accuracy - well, it seems to have done ;)

Many many people seem to use 'alternative' sites so you're not alone ;) You just have to find out what works best for you.

Wishing you well :)

Thank you it seems to be working a bit more in tune with the finger prick test now so hopefully that’s it working now. Iv never had any problems with off readings before for the first few hours/day but il definitely be trying the 24hour placement before use from now on x
