Hi all 6am this morning had coffee and fresh cream in coffee, thought nothing about it ,,took my blood sugars and to my horror was9.1 does cream in coffee raise bs?
Coffee, I drink it black, doesn’t raise my BG but I’ve seen others on here report that it does, like @filly asks did you test before your coffee? A random number means nothing really and it’s important to know where you started from to ascertain if it was the coffee & cream that raised it or if you were around the 8s/9s before you had it, in which case the drink would be fine

Neither cream nor coffee contains carb. It has no impact on my blood glucose. Hot milk in coffee will take me from 5ish to 9.6 within 40 minutes, though, and back to 5ish by the hour, just from the milk lactose. How creamy was your cream?
To make sense of the second reading, what was your baseline reading? What would you have expected?
Don't forget meters are up to 15% inaccurate and can produce rogue results on occasion.
@sandysan - there are lots of hormonal changes going on first thing in the morning which are perfectly normal. It isn't just about what we eat, but I agree with everything said so far - and unsweetened cream and coffee should be pretty much carb-free and therefore will not affect insulin, so minimal effect on blood glucose. As a coffee guy, I shudder at adding anything to a good coffee, but that's a different story for a different forum...
