Yes - some people are more resistant to insulin in the mornings and to consume that amount of sugar is not a good start to the day, particularly if you then go on to eat starchy bread cereal or the like.I have recently been diagnosed as prediabetic - I have always started off my day with a freshly squeezed orange juice - should I cut this out? I was amazed to see how much sugar content this had?
Thanks for any advice

Many thanks for your adviceHi Welcome. Well I for one can't drink orange juice. When I was pre diabetic used to eat some fruit, trying not to go crazy, but sometimes did!
Now Diabetic and trying to get numbers down I try to avoid fruit as it really does make a difference. A few berries or raspberries might be ok. Are you testing or not? You will just need to see how it goes. If you need to lose weight fruit doesn't help at all I find. If you need to get those numbers down I would say avoid best you can.

I shall avoid altogether and see what results I get. ThanksYou’ve answered your own question.
If you’re desperate for oranges you are better off eating a whole one rather than drink a dozen without the fibre. I’d skip it entirely. A few berries are probably ok.
I was interested to see your message and your approach I will look out for the carbs thanksYes - some people are more resistant to insulin in the mornings and to consume that amount of sugar is not a good start to the day, particularly if you then go on to eat starchy bread cereal or the like.
I have two meals a day, proper meals at 12 hour intervals, and 'breakfast' is likely to be steak and mushrooms or stirfry and a pork chop or something left over from dinner. In the summer I had salad and fish, or eggs or cheese or if it was really hot jelly, berries and cream. My Hba1c at diagnosis was 91, so way into the diabetes range, but after just 80 days it was 47 and went down even more after that.
If you can pinpoint other sources of carbs in your diet then it should be easy to see where to make changes - though asking here is likely to bring a lot of advice.![]()
Sounds completely revolting.. any idea why the doc made such a recommendation? For breakfast, my dad mixes raw egg and lemon juice. If I'm not mistaken, the doctor advised him. Does anyone else do this?
