Hi
I'm here again re weight gain I am doing everything I can to not gain anymore.
My bs are brilliant I'm doing low carb most of the time once a week I enjoy a carb meal and I bolus accordingly.
I'm now 70kg so I'm 7,8 kg over my usual body weight
It just is not shifting
In 7 weeks I have lost nothing but gained nearly 2 kg instead
I'm talking water veges meat and eggs etc
Honestly if anyone has any ideas please do share
I am now not fitting my clothes
It's frustrating but I refuse to go back to old bad habits of not taking insulin to maintain my goal weight of 63kg
I no it doesn't sound like a lot of weight gain but it's nearly two dress sizes so I am struggling to wear things an do not have the budget to buy more as I'm a student at present
helppp lol
Cheers guys

Have you tried keeping a food diary or using MyFitnessPal or similar? Do you count calories as well as carbs? Sometimes people eating low carb need to,watch their calories too.

Have you had thyroid checks? I've probably already asked that, but it might be relevant and need further investigation.

Are you keeping active on a regular basis? That can help insulin sensitivity.

You're doing fantastically with your blood sugars - I'm sure you can sort this too over time :)

Also get your vitamin D levels checked and B12 too. Are you drinking enough water? Maybe your own personal ideal weight is more than 63kg? Maybe you need to eat more fat and a bit less protein? Just a few ideas.

Well done for getting your diabetes under control. That is by far the most important thing. :)

Maybe @Kristin251 can help?

Oh and here's a link re thyroid. It sets out all the tests necessary to determine if there is a problem or not. The NHS rarely do all of these as a matter of course, so you could well be told that it's OK when in fact it's not.

Zand, I think Nessa is in NZ, so the NHS won't be involved at all.

The information in that link is very straightforwardly conveyed, so thanks for sharing.

I could do more exercise for sure I just had a thyroid test haven't got results in as yet and I don't count calories
If I'm counting carbs how many calories is allowed????
Thank you for the ideas

I got my b12 checked as Iv had that deficiency before not vitamin D though
My usual weight is 62-65 all my life
Yes it's great having good numbers mornings and nights mostly I'm 4.5 to 6.0 am waxing change

When you eat a high carb meal and have enough insulin to remove the glucose from your blood, it is stored as glycogen and fat. If you were in ketosis before, you stop fat burning and return to using glucose supplied by the liver.
It isn't a successful way to eat low carb.
