It would be worthwhile speaking with your pharmacist but a quick google says that the sweetening agents used in Fybogel Hi-Fibre are aspartame (a source of phenylalanine) and saccharin sodium.

Some google searches say that aspartame is not good for diabetics.

Could you use lactulose instead? I use it for constipation and it doesn't affect my blood sugars.

Ask your pharmacist to be sure.

Glycaemic Load... relates to release rate of sugars in the blood

Thanks :)

I don't know about my GL but I've been using lactulose for a while now and it hasn't affected my readings. In fact my HbA1c has come down while I've been using it.

yes I thought it would.. suppose an added bonus is that it will bulk up the fibre and slow down sugar absorption... as well as the intended help ref toilet needs.

My experience is it works as well as guiness & gunpowder
On a more serious note, it worked well with me and did not alter by BG's in any way up or down. I could not abide the flavours and ended up with the standard 'original' packs.
Since those days I now have moved on to Movicol as that jollop can be taken any time and not necessarily following food to spoil the taste

might try movi...
If you do decide to give Movicol a try, mix it up (or rather attempt to mix it) then leave it to stand for at least 20mins or you will go doolally trying to get it all to disolve
