Help please. Every 3 months I try to find this info but can’t, so am wondering if some can please help me….,,

I use a Dexcom G6 and a Tandem Tslim pump. I also use the Dexcom app on my iPhone.

Tonight I needed to change my transmitter. I have done this wrong in the past and remember the last time I spoke to a rep on the phone they told me to do it in this order:

1) STOP the sensor on my pump (needed to change that too anyway)

2) Type in the new transmitter number

3) START the new sensor by adding in the code.

Well that’s all great and dandy but on the Dexcom app if I now click on PAIR NEW TRANSMITTER it says I must stop my current sensor, which I can’t do as I’ve just started a new one. So where do I do this step?
Does it need to come between steps 2 and 3 above.

Someone PLEASE help me and tell me the correct steps as it looks like for the next 10 days till I change my sensor, I won’t be able to use the app, just the pump, for my readings?!

Diabetes is hard enough without this :-(

Just as extra info, the Dexcom app on the phone currently just says ‘sensor error’ because it’s still searching for the old transmitter (which is in the microwave - switched off of course)

(That was a top tip from a rep who said if you place it in there the metal walls/construction means it won’t transmit anymore and will allow your new transmitter to be picked up more easily)

Hi there @Alison204 . I believe @EllieM uses a pump. I have tagged her for you. I am sure a number of T1 members who use pumps will be along and will be able to assist you with your questions.

@Alison204 .. just an aside on the top tip... microwaves are specifically designed to block radiation in the micro millimetre wavelength range.. that's what a microwave is.. (don't mean to be flippant, I also work with telecoms and electronics). The kind of electrical signal coming from a transmitter will be in a different part of the frequency range, and will definitely ... definitely not be microwave (would cook your arm). A small wrap of tin foil will be just as effective.

Hi Alison
Im using g7 now but was using g6 until a few months ago but from what I remember you need to click on ' stop sensor ' on your phone as the sensor paired on your phone will be the old one with your old transmitter. When you stop a sensor in either pump or phone it doesn't actually stop the sensor working but stops the device receiving data, so you have nothing to lose as your phone isn't receiving data anyway.
I do use android but im sure apple will be the same!

I was on the G6 for maybe 6 yrs or so (could have been longer), together with the T:Slim, I've now moved to G7 but kept old notes - not sure why. This always worked for me

For a new G6 transmitter, pair first with pump and then phone - so stop sensor on both, then stop transmitter on pump.

Pair Tx to pump and add sensor.

Pair the Tx to your phone before starting up new sensor on phone, select Tx then enter sensor code followed by Tx code.

If sensor does not start on phone then let warm up finish before pressing start sensor on pump - it may take 10 mins for pump to catch up with phone.

If mess up then restart with no sensor code on watch or phone.

When changing pumps remember to power off the old pump that’s paired to the Transmitter before trying to pair the new pump. Plug power cable into pump and hold button down for about 45 secs until it buzzes three times. Probably best to wait 5-10 mins before pairing new one. Charge new pump from wall power socket (not computer). If the sensor does not start up - wait ten or so minutes as it sometimes kicks in late.

Hope this helps.
