To much to say.
Hello everyone...I gave up smoking yesterday, and as the day went on my sugars have lowered...Before eating my dinner I was 6.1 ,first for me,then two hours after I was 7.1 . I have read in my forum that giving up smoking drops sugar levels quite a lot,and to drink fruit juices for the first week to help with energy levels, but obviously I can't do this and I don't know what to do...If anyone can help me please I would be very grateful, also when waking this morning,my sugar was 6.8,that also is a first for me,but I am worried if they go to low...Have a lovely Tuesday all...xox

Your levels would have to go a lot lower than they are for them to become an issue (ie under 4.0) and that is highly unlikely, so be happy for the bonus of lowered BG. These are perfectly normal levels that you're describing.

Oh thank you Indy...So no worry then...Yes my 2nd day of no smoking, need to keep active...xox

As Indy says, well done for quitting and those BG levels are nothing to worry about.

Can't believe you are both telling me my sugar is fine, that's perked me up big time...Although I must admit I have read that I will want to eat more which is a bit of a worry,I guess I will just have to buy more snacks, don't know how to get around that one...Any ideas...xox

That's a tough one. I quit nearly 5 years ago and I did put on a little weight to be honest. Having said that, I'd rather gain a few pounds and be smoke free. I would possibly take this opportunity to start some regular exercise, even walking is good. Have some healthy snacks in the house for those weak moments, some nuts or yoghurt and berries or similar. A good tip I read is if you feel peckish, drink a glass of water and this sometimes deals with it.

Well I ride my bike a lot over the park, and I have just made a nice glass of water with crushed ice and fresh ginger...I am going to Tesco today to do a shop so will have a good look on what to buy...Wow 5years,well done you,I hope I stick with mine,I am so determend, thanks for your advice...xox

I have no teeth lol, can't manage nuts or anything like celery, but thank you,I do like peanut butter though,I shall just use a soon...:)
