Glucogen "Big Needle" Question

Had a bad hypo a week ago in which i suffered a siezure causing me to bite my tongue and collapse to the floor after trying to get up.

Anyway an ambulance was called and he gave me the big needle in my arm after some glucose gel in my throat didn't do the job.

I came round but over a week later i still have a dead arm where i got the jag.

Is this normal? Never had this big jag before.

Hi never had it myself, closest was prob flu jab which gave me a dead arm for two days

Im not sure how long it should last but I dont think you should still be having after effect this long after. I would go back to GP and get it checked out - may have hit a nerve or something

Anything out of the ordinary should be checked out IMHO

Hi Irishcelt,
I know how you feel, i have up to 9 seizures a day, not releated to diabeties!
I would go back and see your gp, I know when i was given a jab to stop me having seizures, i know it took 4 days for my arm to return to normal! As i suffered bad with my arm over them day's!
I would make a appointment tomorrow to see your gp! A week is a long time! It could be that they injected into your muscle, i have had that once and it does take time for your arm to get over it!
It would be better to be safe than sorry and see gp over it as soon as it will put your mind at ease!

I'm confused by your post, as you say that came around a week later? And you still have a dea arem where you where jabbed??

I would assume that you spent this week in hopsital? As you would have to had to have a fluids via a drip to survive a comma caused by fit and/or hypo???

I've not experienced a glucogen to bring me aaround from a hypo, but my husband has on several occassions, and on one occasion the paramedic pushed glucose straight into the vien via a cannual the latter wasn't a pleasent to watch, as the paramedic actuall had to knee on his arm while carrying out hte procedure, and I had to help to basically pin him to the floor just incase, he started to come around while the paramedic was pushing the glucose into the vien, which isn't a easy thing to do...

Both these method use on him, has never required a hospital visit as he came round, and I can't remember him saying that he had any problems with soreness of the arm afterwards...

However if you were driped while in hospital, it could actually be the cannual for the drip that has caused your problem, I have had this on a couple occasions, where I've had to have a cannular inserted and used for a extended period of time, and it has reacted causing problems this was very sore indeed and lasted quite a while..

If concerned seek medical advise with you GP

Sorry for the confusion.
When i say "I came round but over a week later i still have a dead arm where i got the jag." i mean i came round, and then totally sperate to that over a week later i still have a dead arm.

The jag did go into my muscle which i think has caused the problem.

Went to the doc today bout my dead arm. Turns out i got the big needle inserted in my deltoid muscle in my arm instead of higher up.

One to watch out for.

Seeing the term, 'big needle', made me smile, thats the deal I have with my husband, if I am having a bad hypo, he has to 'threaten me' with the 'big needle', if I am alert enough to argue, I am alert enough to eat.

I think, it has been many years since having the 'big needle' that I was given in in my thigh, but never actually asked and have never had any soreness after to make me think on any more about it.

Are you particuarly slim?
