Gluten free foods

I have been looking into Gluten Free foods and have noticed they have very little sugar fat carbs and salt.If I was to change to these foods would it be as good as low carb diet and would I still get low carb side effect.Just that it seems the better option to having fat free foods which always have a lot of sugar in.Please give me your thoughts.xxxx
 
I’m not sure that gluten free foods are particularly low carb, so I don’t know which particular foods you are looking at? My first thought though is that it’s a very expensive way of doing things. Gluten free ranges are generally very pricey.
 
I don't think GF do particularly have less carbs/sugars, in fact some will probably have significantly more (I have no actual proof for this, its my pet theory)
So a small check:
My GF Biscuit breaks sat on my desk at work: per 100g: 60g carbs, 22 of which are sugars
Belvita breakfast biscuits (on my workmates desk): per 100g: 70g carbs, 27 of which are sugars.
So whilst the GF ones are slightly less, its not really a significant different.
Next check (via the internet)
Bread: Genius GF bread (it actually tastes quite nice but does tend to crumble), per 100g:43g carbs, 5 sugars , per slice: 15 carbs, 2 sugars
Kingsmill bread: per 100g 39 carbs, 4.3 sugars, per slice 11.3 carbs, 1.2 - and the slices though lighter are probably bigger, GF slices tend to be small in size
So the normal one has less carbs
Personally I wouldn't be on a GF diet if I didn't need to be, for a start it costs a fortune - £3 for a loaf of bread!

I'm also on a GF diet, on medical advice, but it can be a real faff. Of course that's mainly avoiding the gluten, as opposed to anything else.

The only foods I buy from the GF ranges are GF Soy Sauce and GF Worcestershire Sauce. Otherwise I just avoid the gluten and eat other things, rather than the modified options.

There are lots and lots of naturally GF foods which I am content to eat.
 
I have to eat gluten free as I am intollerant to it. Processed gluten free food generally contains more sugars and fats than standard products as the manufacturers attempt to make it more paletable, after removing the gluten. Many people feel better eating gluten free but its not something to do just because you want to eat less carbs - just follow a low carb diet. It is also a lot more expensive, but it is not necessary to eat the gluten free bread etc.... meat, fish, vegetables, salad etc are all natuarally gluten free.
 
Gluten free foods sales rose 30% last year in the US. And a lot of is costs 30% more to buy. IMO most people don't benefit from it. Very few people had what my niece has which is celiac disease, where if you consume gluten you get sick and diarrhea and waste away. Seems like gluten free is like "Organic". Stick a label on it and up the price.
 
I am so disappointed I thought I had an easy way of eating less sugar salt and fat but alas no I walking at gravy granules and Sri k in As it cubes have a great deal of sodium.
I have tried free from breads like Genius but don't like them and was just looking for the easy option.But I will have to rethink again.

Personally, for me the easy option is actually avoiding the GF ranges, and being a slave to it.
