Me again, with yet another question:

After I have eaten or drunk something, I go all hot and feel very hot for about 5 mins. This happens about an hour after eating or drinking. Any idea what is happening please? and should I be worried?

I kind of get something similar. When I eat cheese my face gets really hot! My mum is the same if she eats sweet things her face is hot and she sweats.

I go very cold if i eat something very high in fat or protein. fish cheese eggs gammon pork scratchings all make me cold and make sugars plummit. however anthing high in sugar makes me red hot lol when you get used to it you save on test strips lol

Hi lucy :)

Have you tested your bs when you are feeling like this? - I see you have been able to get some strips from your GP so maybe worth doing a couple of tests. It may be that this is when you are peaking from what you have eaten and going higher than you would like - if you are testing after 2 hours you may be getting a good result but missing the high peak at 1 hour.

I used to feel like this every time I ate before diagnosis - now very rarely get it and like bedshaped said for me now it is a good indicator that I may have been a bit higher than my body is now used to

Thanks. I get my test strips on Tuesday once I have seen the nurse, so I will try testing when I go hot then.

Apparently about 10% of the energy from food is used in processing it by your digestion system (most of which will be rejected as heat).

Protein rejects the most heat, fat the least. Maybe you've increased the protein component of your diet...

Brilliant. Thats what I have done. I am substituting protein for carbs in all my meals now

eg. 2 egg omelette and cheese instead of 2 slices of thick white toast and jam

Thank you :D
