I stopped going out .Are you just talking coffee, or nibbles as well
I meet my friends for coffee regularly, and in various coffee shops. Personally I stick to black coffee because I like it, but coffee with real cream is also ideal. The only thing to really avoid is too much milk, and definitely skinny or semi skinny milk.
If your friends tuck into cake it wouldn't be wise to join in.
I hope you have a lovely time, and I hope you haven't been avoiding these occasions because of your diabetes? There really is no need to.
I don't drink any coffee (something I have disliked since childhood) but never have problems finding tea or herbal tea where I have control of the teabag so can make it as strong or weak as I like.I need to find a very weak coffee or tea.
Don't you like coffee with real cream (not the pretend squirty stuff)? Not unlike a proper latte to be honest. If not, then have tea or coffee with milk, but not half a cup full of milk! To be honest, one coffee (flat white?) is not going to kill you or have any long lasting effects on your blood sugars.
What a shame you stopped going out. With some forward planning there is no need to stop socialising in cafes and restaurants.
Starbucks usually charge, but with Costa it is usually free. Other coffee chains are available.I think I will try the coffee with real cream. Or maybe a Tea with real cream. We will probably end up in a costa or star bucks I hope I find something I enjoy. I haven't liked being a hermit since I was diagnosed.
I think you need to ask for double cream. Single cream is half milk so contains more carbs.I think I will try the coffee with real cream
How delicious that sounds! I once visited Turin, beautiful city. For instance a really posh coffee and ice parlor in Turin http://www.caffefiorio.it/le-specialita?jjj=1523977932948 has a buffet with anchovies, cheese, peppers, baked onions...
Then dont be a hermit....dont let it rule your life...go out..,dont worry about a coffee and slice of cake once in a while...if it makes your bg rise it will be a little challenge for you to get it back under control...go out enjoy yourself!I think I will try the coffee with real cream. Or maybe a Tea with real cream. We will probably end up in a costa or star bucks I hope I find something I enjoy. I haven't liked being a hermit since I was diagnosed.
Good idea, and the OP could also take some with her. No-one serving in a cafe is going to mind a person bringing their own nuts.some places provide nuts
If you like your drinks sweet and you don't mind artificial sweeteners, I recommend the old-fashioned saccharine. I recently tried it for the first time in 75 years, and I am quite impressed. To my taste, one tiny tablet makes a hot drink far sweeter than I need it to be. Saccharine is very cheap and comes in little canisters that would fit easily into a handbag and you would not be conspicuous adding it to your drink. Indeed, I think people watching their weight often do this.I need to find a drink I can have without being odd or awkward
Hello and welcome A_Sun. I often go to Starbucks and Costa and they both serve teas with the milk served separately in small jugs. Costa usually give you a choice of whole milk or skimmed milk, they serve tea in a teapot and there are sweeteners if you need them. Relax and enjoy!I think I will try the coffee with real cream. Or maybe a Tea with real cream. We will probably end up in a costa or star bucks I hope I find something I enjoy. I haven't liked being a hermit since I was diagnosed.
