Good article in Mens Health on reversing diabetes

This article came up in my newsfeed and although it's American the reasoning for NHS standard dietary advice is basically the same and this doc also has to go against the grain to successfully treat her patients. It annoys me when 'they' (ADA, NHS etc) come out with the old chestnut of LCHF not being proven in the long term as it's untrue since it was the only treatment for diabetes prior to insulin and for sure we've proven that the current high carb dietary advice does not help diabetics one little bit.

Also annoying when the ADA say the low fat is for heart health when if they concentrated on reversing the diabetes you wouldn't be at higher risk anyway and the risk has now been shown in recent scientific studies to come more from inflammation which is mostly down to sugar/carbs.

What was the average lifespan on LCHF prior to insulin as a matter of interest?

I wonder what the average lifespan is for those who are dedicated Atkins followers ..... might be interesting to note.

I don't know if there are any figures, but there were a few interesting articles I hadn't come across before on the "Atkins Attitude," last time I looked at it.

Had to read it with Lynx due the ads and the anti-adblocker...

Anyway is officially approved that one should eat more monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. So seems reasonable to eat more fish and vegetable oils instead of more wholegrain bread if one has diabetes. IF the same reasoning that says that eggs are bad because are full of cholesterol is applied to starchy and sugary foods, then these food are bad 'cause are glucose full

Hard to tell since they didn't know back in the pre-insulin days how to properly distinguish between types of diabetes. (If they do now for some individuals ...)
