A bit shocked, no doubt. You are in the right place for help, though.Hi,
Was told I was pre diabetic last year with a HbA1c of 44. Had my annual retest as requested and it’s now 53. Tested twice in a month with the same level. I know it’s not ridiculously high in comparison to some.
Doctor mentioned the possibility of medication but said to wait for check with diabetic nurse next week.
Not really sure how I should be feeling right now
Many thanks
Hi @shellkl
Welcome to the 'Club' and {{{Hugs}}}
As already mentioned, ask as many questions as you need. Take it one day at a time
One very good thing to do is to get yourself a Glucose monitor and test to see what foods affect your glucose levels. Usually, the Medical/Nursing staff say 'Type 2 don't need to test' Well, that's a load of rubbish, although your own choice, of course. They say that coz they don't want the expense of prescribing you testing strips, basically. Of course you need to test. How else will you know what foods affect you, what exercise does to you etc etc. Knowledge is power, although most Health Professionals prefer you to just 'toe the line' and 'do what they tell you'. Unfortunately, they're not always up to date and it's not 'their' body but it is YOUR body. Make informed choices, if and when possible.

Am very frustrated as don’t like waiting to know more. Appointment with nurse tomorrow has been cancelled as that was with prediabetic nurse which is no good. Could only offer me an appointment in 3 weeks time. I expressed the concern that I haven’t been given any information other than being told I am diabetic and my HbA1c results.
Have an appointment with a dr Wednesday which they said may help but now feel lost as don’t know where I stand at all x
