Got my results back

Courgette "pasta" worked for me with the potato peeler. one of the swivelly ones. I steam all veggies, but thought these might stir-fry and so they did.

here goes chaps No Pasta Lamb Lasagne

1x lge aubergine and 1 x lge courgette both thinly sliced lengthways

1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil & it says 1 tbsp virgin coconut oil but we just doubled up on the EVO

1 x clove garlic (Chris used 2 and i thought it could have done with a little more)

250 minced lamb (whatever you can manage, they say organic0

1 x tin chopped toms

1x veg stock cube

parsley (i can live without that)

2 tbsp parmesan or similar

Oven 200 deg or 180 for a fan, gas 6

coat the aub & courg with oil arrange in dish and bake covered in foil for about 20 mins or until soft (this makes them taste yummy but i love olive oil which helps)

use the coconut oil to fry the garlic and then add lamb, add toms & stock cube & parsley if posh (not watered down) and simmer for 20 mins

then layer the veg and mince mix with aub then meat then courg then meat etc

sprinkle cheese on top and bake for 15 mins

if my husband can do this anyone can, it was gorgeous! i suggested a touch of nutmeg to the lamb and a bit more garlic, not sure about the coconut flavour but we did not use it

this recipe serves 4 but we polished it off but i was ready for a scabby donkey by the time i got home....

enjoy Jacqui

nice work - will try this with vegetarian mince instead - many thanks ... so no sauce, just cheese on top ... k! thanks!

erm, I have one small question ... what does "ready for a scabby donkey" mean - I must be very innocent indeed!!

my poor dad who passed away last year (T2 and pancreatic cancer) would say he was so hungry that he could eat a scabby donkey between two bread vans lol :D

of course for a veggie a donkey may not be the appropriate choice...

i have to say not been eating enough in the last few days so by the time i get to dinner i am ready for it, but lunch today filled me up til tea so i may be getting it right now

the recipe it great though so give it a whirl

ahaaaaaaaa --- understood!

if I was that hungry, maybe scabby donkeys WOULD need to watch out ;)

will try the recipe sunday probably :)

as to being hungry by the time dinner gets made, I have a packet of nuts in the breadbin and shake out an ounce to munch whilst I'm making dinner, brazils or macadamias are I believe pretty low carb - this means I don't feel tempted to eat stuff I'm making for other people AND it means I get some good protein. and it's "only" about 180 calories, but I allow for that anyhow ;)

best, Jem xox

I got my blood glucose meter from Abbot, have callinbrated it, set it all up and now cannot bring myself to prick my finger. What a softy eh?

Wash hands, press thumb hard just under ball of chosen finger, deep breath and ...jab!!  It does get easier.

Don't forget to DRY hands. And prick the side of the finger. I'ts a lot less painful that picking blackberries.

Did it! 2 hours after lunch. 10.4. And it is true that it is a lot less painful than picking blackberries although the colour of your fingers is the same afterwards (only joking).

good girl - well done!

and don't forget that just cos your bg machine probably came with a lancing device, if you don't like it you can easily find another one ... I find the breeze 2 system almost painless and defo do the sides of your smaller fingers ... the larger fingers have thicker skin and will need more "jab" depth to bring the little puddle of blood ... of course, it's all relative really ;)

just thinking about what they use to get bloods when I was in the op theatre for my c/section brings a case of the collywobbles ... no lancing device there, just a odding great thumb tack and a vicious nurse with a obvious hatred of my thumb (the only thing not wired up to some **** bleeping machine or drip or something) ... so the lancing device is FAB by comparison!

I am fine with it now. Once I had done it once I was ok.

Had a funny spell today. Took my bs before lunch and it was 8, took it 2 hours later and it was 7.2, 30 mins later was on the phone to my mate and suddenly came over dizzy (while sitting down), vision blury and felt sick. BS had dropped to 6.6 in half an hour. Had a drink of OJ, went and picked my little one up from nursery, retested when I got home, about 45 mins later and it was 6.9 and I feel a lot better.

wow berrylover that sounds like a good set of results so far

i have been testing for 3 days and have fluctuated between 10 & 16; 16 was this morning fasting so not good but yesterday i had some carbs and today when my results were 16, 15.8 and then 14 (that is 5.30am 12.00 and 6.30pm all just before meals)

am not dispondent as i think the carbs have made the difference and i knew what i was doing, from tomorrow strictly none so hopefully will be better

my DN has said that there is no way we (being the newbies) can hypo but how would she know what is going on with me!

keep up the good work

one thing that somebody else mentioned on here a while ago is that if you are used to operating at high blood sugar levels and you suddenly take a great deal of control over your diet and diabetes, you can feel hypo even if your bloods are not actually considered tht low - so, ok it might be unusual for type 2 at beginning of diagnosis (and not using insulin) to have major hypos, but you might FEEL that way because in terms of your own body, you ARE low.

what none of the health "care" professionals or dietetics people seem willing to admit is that EVERYONE is different ... you will get to know your own body and how it copes, how you feel, what to do ... :) good luck!

what did you have chic?

and don't forget that the other stuff you do (or don't do) will affect your bgs ...

like exercise can lower it ... or NOT doing anything where you normally do, might make it higher than normal ...

I rather stupidly ate a third of a bowl of chips at the play centre today :( --- bad idea, felt ****, high bloods, bit of a loss of concentration there really a bit miffed at self - but hey - it coulda been worse, right, I mean, I might not have come to my senses and removed aforementioned devil-food and porked the whole lot and then ... sigh - probably be feeling much much worse!

we're "only" human ... xxx

well chaps i think i blew it again yesterday but thank goodness for my testing kit!

i had a really busy day (last one for a week which means do a week's work before you go, ready for the week's work when you get back)

i came home with yet more work to do, a husband at work (so i was in grab what you can mode) and decided on Fishfingers and veg. As that was really all i had in the house when i saw the carb content i was horrified but resigned, but i did scrape off most of the coating

anyway my pre dinner reading was about 11.8 (not bad for me at the moment)

after about 2 hours i felt really dreadful, not like me to think of jacking in the work which i had to get finished but i was knack'd and feeling terrible, headache and the like.

so i did another test and lo & behold 16.5 (one of my highest), so had a piece of cheese and felt a bit better

this morning woke with bad head and lots of peeing at just before 5 (not unusual as i am often up around then though never by choice  ) anyway am now at 12.8 which is actually best morning result i have had so far.

am off for a week's walking today, will experiement with how that affects the bloods as well. Also got my new bible yesterday (bernstein) though i had hoped it would be a bit smaller...have had a flick through and will use the week to digest it better, not sure i can go quite so low on the carbs but am avoiding eg carb food rather than carbs in things such as soup etc to see how that works. will be interesting having to eat out quite a bit

on that one i am getting a bit fed up of having half a plate of food but paying for the whole amount, seems a bit discriminatory to me for me to ask for no chips but get nothing in return, might just have to get my forceful head on this week, though the husband is doing quite a good job on that front making the food servers feel guilty by emphasising my diabetic state when asking for extra veg (and he is a pussycat normally)

look forward to catching up with you all next week and everyone remember it is a condition not an illness don't let the B****s get you down

Strawberries are good diet. However, if you always eat it with much ice cream will not give you a good result in your body. Eating too much ice cream is not good because it will cause diabetes. It not even helps you to loss weight.
