I have just got my latest Hba1c result and im so happy!

Some of you may have seen my previous posts, but to recap, I was diagnosed in around 2020 I think, and was diet controlled, keeping my hba1c around the low 50's but following an unhelpful appointment with a diabetic nurse, I kind of went off the rails a bit not taking as much care as I should have and missed some reviews.

Jump to May last year and my hba1c had risen to 80. I was so worried about going on medication, particularly metformin and after a consultation with a new diabetic nurse was put on a 'flozin.
However, having read all the possible side effects for 'flozins and indeed a lot of other diabetic meds I came to the conclusion that all of the diabetic meds had unpleasant side effects, so best course of action was not to need meds at all. So I started visiting this forum more frequently, read a few super helpful books (the diabetes code by Jason fung and how to reverse type 2 diabetes and pre diabetes by Dr David Cavan) as well as using other resources and I started a low carb diet. I also self funded a CGM to help me monitor what I could eat without spiking too high.

After about a 4-6 weeks I think of being on the flozin, I spoke to the diabetic nurse about my concerns of being on a low carb diet wity these meds and that I wanted to try intermittent fasting as well, so wanted to trial coming off the meds. A Hba1c was repeated at the beginning of August 25 which came back at 52. I had also lost some weight by then and the nurse agreed with my weight loss, reduced hba1c and change in diet to try coming off the meds.

So 'flozin was stopped and I added in intermittent fasting into my routine and went a little more low carb. I lost more weight and another hba1c was done in October 25 which came back at 47.

Just had my annual diabetic review and my Hba1c has now come back at 41! I am over the moon with this result. I think this now classes me as in remission with two results under 48 whilst taking no meds? I have also now lost 5.5 stone (about 35kg I think) since May last year and am feeling a lot healthier with more energy than I've had in long time.

I want to thank the people in this lovely forum for all the responses to my posts and advice ive recieved from other people's posts which has helped me on my journey.

I won't lie, the journey has been tough at times, but Im confident that the changes I've made can be sustained long term - my journey isnt over, this is life long and im not perfect, I do have blips, but I've realised thats ok, as long as I get back on track. I will also still continue with funding a CGM to help with this.

Apologies for the long post, but I hope this helps others know what can be achieved if you put the work in and helps inspire them, like so many posts on this forum have inspired me.

Thanks all!
