over selling.... oh so many things are enthusiastically oversold
There are so many places which are mainly carb based. Most places I’d say….. not only that but often it all costs a small fortune. I’d love to hear more about great quality protein/ keto / carni places that don’t cost the earth and don’t mess with metabolism too much

My recommendation :

Today I had lunch at the flat iron restaurant in Victoria London.

A steak and a veg side dish set me back £20 and there was barely a blip in my glucose levels. I left a nice tip

Please let me hear of anything anywhere you have actually experienced similar. Thanks in advance

Oh I love the flat iron restaurants! Nando’s is a good shout too, I choose 4 boneless chicken thighs with lemon and herb dressing with broccoli and coleslaw, barely any effect on my blood sugar levels.

Thanks for your recommendation. Chicken wouldn’t normally be my first choice but It’s good to be reminded of options.

There’s not many chain restaurants where I live, in fact can’t think of any except the fast food & Nando’s, lots of little independent restaurants & cafes though that I’ve never had trouble in.

I’ve found since the introduction of establishments having to ask if you have allergens and the stringency around that, (even though I would never say I have an allergy as that is offensive to those that truly do) then most places are more than willing to adapt anything you wish

A chain which I’ve eaten in, when in Liverpool, Edinburgh & Manchester, which is perfect for very low carbs is Fogo De Chao, used to be called Fazenda.

Five Guys is always good if you fancy a burger - ask for it in a tray & add what you want, Or most non-chain restaurants, I found that they'll be more flexible, more veg, fewer/no carbs

I’ve never tried five guys. That’s another one for me to look out for. Thanks

Fogo de chao - That’s a definite book mark for me. Luckily it’s not close so I won’t go bankrupt! Looks fab. Thanks

JRC Global Buffet Wembley is great as you have total control over the carbs you eat.

The best way to find restaurants where you control your carbs is to check out restaurants that charge separately for side dishes. It does work out a little more expensive but not when it's our health that's the issue.

There are very few chains near me, and not many places that charge for sides separately (wouldn’t go down too well here in the north). I have found most places are very accommodating if I ask to swap chips, potatoes etc with extra veg or salad.

The most difficult places I find are lunch stops in sandwich type places. I have been known to ask for a jacket potato and tuna…..without the jacket! In one place they came back twice to check I really meant just the garlic mushroom topping and side salad without the jacket. Places which do an all day breakfast can also be happy to leave out the toast, hash browns (and backed beans) and just serve eggs, mushrooms, sausage and bacon.

My inner tightfisted child objects to being charged the same without the toast, hash browns etc. So when faced with the odd breakfast I make it a "day off" day. If on holidays then I opt for bed without breakfast and either bring my own (tinned fish or cheese etc) or go to a cafe and hope they have low carb options or where you can choose what you want and get charged appropriately.

Just a gentle reminder from mods that the OP asks for specific named restaurants & eateries that are great places to eat, not for general tips on eating out low carb, of which there are plenty of threads

I always find plenty of options for low carb at Miller and Carter Steakhouses.

They also do a rather good alcohol free gin. ( I never would have believed I could possibly recommend alcohol free anything)

My apologies.
