Has anyone read Gretchen Becker's book on the first year of being a diabetic. Someone said I should perhaps buy it as its really good but dont want to waste my money on something that is a waste of time.
Yep this is a great book to read.
Full of knowledge and practical information.
A great book for your first year as the title 'is' aptly named
Quite a few of us have benefitted from reading this one.
Hope this helps?
Anna.
Spend your money on this one rather than one or two of the cookery for diabetics books.... get your recipes from this forum!
I have the Gretchen book and tho it is a bit scarey at times it is worth having.
I bought this book 3 months ago and it has really helped me to understand what is going on and what questions to ask and think about. I totally recommend it.
Customer helplines that use recorded menus that promise to put me through to the right person but never do - and being ill. Oh, and did I mention customer helplines :)
My boyfriend bought this for me when I was in a panic after first being diagnosed, and I found it a great help in explaining where you go from initial diagnosis, when you just need to know the basics, then it leads into stuff you need later on. It's a great book to start you off, definately one of the better books I've read on diabetes.
This website is great for advice from 'real' people living with diabetes too.
Thanks for all your replies. Will look forward to reading it.
I have found this site really helpful and the best advice regarding diabetes than anywhere else. I wouldnt have got as far as I have without this site and the fab people on it.
