@wiseowl_123

It is the amount of carbs in the food which push up your BGs. Look on the back at the Nutrition box to see the amount, and this is a better guide than the traffic light system.

We have some breaded ham in, and this is 1.3g per 100g. Given that equals 4 slices, the 1.3g will have v little effect. Ignore the "of which sugars" figure - this is misleading;go off the total figure for carbohydrate.

Dead pig is delicious! I put mine in between lettuce leaves with mustard and then devour the whole thing..:D

Cooked skinless chicken has no carbohydrates whatsoever and is a healthier alternative to pork/ham/bacon/sausages. However the ham you bought Wise Owl will not do you harm regarding sugar levels. Enjoy!

I have 2 things against ham (which I actually like)
  1. It is very high in protein. I believe that the daily amount of protein should be limited, so all cold meats push me towards that limit. It is also not very fatty, so there is no plus side. Not as bad as chicken breast, though.
  2. It is processed food, which I try to avoid.
However, my biggest annoyance is "traditional wafer thin ham". There is nothing traditional about see-through ham. Believe me, it wasn't like that in the old days! It's just a ruse to make it look like you're getting a lot when you're not.

Good morning @Nidge247 and @miahara my friends and thank you i was just a little concerned with the 8% salt content:)

It hasn't got 8% salt content. The 8% is the amount of the daily reference intake it contains, in other words 8% of your daily salt consumption. It actually contains 0.5g. (per slice) So you could eat 1 slice and then still have 92% of your daily recommended allowance spare!

We buy local ham from a nearby farmer and it's so different than the over processed store bought hams - lovely texture, taste and no carbs to speak of and no affect on the BGs - most meats we get locally - fresh from the farm. If you're ever in the position to do that - give it a try - you will never purchase store bought meats again :) Farmer Markets are a good place to check.
