HbA1c results come back as 9.1

Ok, it’s the bread, spuds and pasta that’ll be doing it! They turn to glucose super fast in your blood. Are you purely diet controlled, or on meds?

On metformin twice a day , wouldn’t it be nice if they didn’t turn into glucose LOL!

They put me on those statins too but I said no and the nurse said I need them but I haven’t been taking them oh god I’m dreading the appointment next week I see a different doctor every time so don’t know who I will see
 
Do you really like bread, spuds and pasta, or does it just feel easier to fit in?
I would make a list of what you do like eating and work out a couple of 'set menu' taking out the carb or reducing the carb, so its easier and you do not have to worry so much.
The good thing is you know whats causing it, so you have a greater chance of doing something about it.
Try and remember the doctor is supposed to be there to try and help you, you never know you may get one who has some ideas. Try asking them if there are any groups or courses in your area that you could try.

If you have recently been pregnant, you have had a lot on your mind so you don't need to beat yourself up about this part of your life.
I have always said that having diabetes is rubbish but being diagnosed with it is great: it is your chance to do something about it. This may not be the first you've known about diabetes but perhaps you can see your latest results like a second diagnosis: time to do something about it.

As others have said, ask for help at your appointment and don't let the doctor bully you into thinking you have been bad. A doctor's role is to make you well not to make you feel worse.
 
Can you give us an idea of what you’re eating? Maybe what you’ve had/will have today? The hive mind might be able to make some suggestions for you x
 
Is coconut water bad for diabetes cause I drink a lot of that
 
What does it say on the nutrition info on the container? Which brand is it, and how much are you drinking?

I drink the coco vita ones I don’t know find those labels so confusing I will have to check but when I saw it didn’t have much sugar didn’t check carbs I will start checking now Im not going to buy anything processed now just going to drink water

You are very young to have to face up to all this. Discovering one has a problem with diabetes and the prospect of making big changes in what one eats are both hugely painful. And you're right, it's really lonely, because so few people who haven't the same problem understand the first thing about it. So if your medical team aren't sympathetic and helpful either, that's SO tough for you. Luckily you found your way here. Everyone here can promise you that things do get easier, there are still nice things to eat that won't raise your bg too much. We are only human, we do get fed up from time to time, but we also enjoy life and have fun.

IMO you could do with talking to a counsellor and getting some emotional support. Could you ask your GP for this? It seems to me that CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) might help you. In case you don't know, this is not a long in-depth therapy where you delve into your past, it is very practical and lasts just a few sessions with a definite aim in view. Learning to cope better with diabetes could be an appropriate aim. CBT is often available on the NHS precisely because it is fairly short, so it doesn't cost them too much! Good luck!

Yh that sounds like a good suggestion will mention to my GP thank you. Yes your right I’m just in a negative mind set right now it’s not end of the world and if anything it’s good cause carbs and sugar isn’t good for anyone and if I wouldn’t of got diabetes I might of got something else so it’s good to change my lifestyle and I’m looking forward to it will take every day at a time.
 
My Hba1c was 91 at diagnosis, I went back to low carb foods from that moment and was down to 47 in 80 days - no longer diabetic.
If you reduce the amount of carbohydrate you eat, replacing the bulk with veges or what other low carb foods you can cope with, and the energy requirements with fats, your metabolism should recover to some extent - with any luck - and weightloss - if necessary, can be achieved.

Hi, I was diagnosed out of the blue in October last year. I went for my first check up last week and my results are now in the normal range for blood sugar. I had good cholesterol and blood pressure prior to diagnosis and these are still good, both slightly lower than they were. It took me a while to get my head around the news and the changes that I would need to make. It is hard but you can and will be able to do it. Take it one day at a time. I take it you are a relatively new mum? There’s a great reason to get yourself well. On days when I raged at the world and felt sorry for myself I thought of the alternatives of not doing what I could to get myself better. I didn’t want meds and injections or worse and I have 3 beautiful grandchildren I want to see grow up so that was my motivation, like you I enjoyed bread, now I treat myself now and again to 1 slice of Hovis low carb whole meal, I haven’t had pasta or rice since Oct but I have discovered cauliflower soup, I could live on it it’s lovely. I also do a little bit of swimming and some HiiT training and I also go for a 15 to 20 minute walk during my lunch break, every little change you make will start to make a difference and then that will become your motivation too. Good luck, don’t give up, you can do it

Yh my baby is my motivation and I want another child soon so she can have a sibling so need to be in the best health for and in and the future I’m feeling better speaking with all you it making me feel more positive. I know I can do it and once In the routine it will all be fine.

Everyone here has been where you are today, don’t give up, get well and enjoy being a mum. I didn’t think I would do as well as I did but I surprised myself and my diabetic nurse so it’s your turn now to surprise everyone.

I was diagnosed last Sept with 85 HBA1C.

I followed a low to moderate carb very healthy diet. HBA1C further droppedto 46 last Dec.

And it has dropped further to 38 (Feb 2018).

My endocrinologist said I’m now in remission.

Yh woah big difference and 3 months isn’t that long looking forward to my results
