Since being diagnosed 10 weeks ago I keep getting the wobbles and headaches, everyday is a thick head day? tired tired tired! losing weight and watching the food but no changes yet? how much weight do I have to lose before I start feeling better? Are these headaches normal? Feels like a constant hangover! Wobbles, headaches...this normal?

I get 'thick head' days when I don't drink enough water. I try to get at least 2 litres down me every day - I fill a jug in the morning and have a small drink every time I pass it, try to empty it by bed-time.

Another thing might be caffeine. Have you either increased or decreased your tea and coffee consumption very quickly? either could contribute to the way you're feeling.

Dazzy

i feel like that too most days, headache , fullness and foggy feeling,

i put it down to a withdrawel effect from my change of diet,

but i do remember a few yrs ago when i went on to decaf tea...for days i had headaches, took me a while to realise it was the lack of caffiene that was doing it,

now my body is screaming for suagr

Hi
I get those thick head days also,I drink loads of water 2 litre + aday, I don't drink tea or coffee. I have only been diabetic for 6 weeks but had a good chat with my doctor last evening and he has put my on metformin 1 tablet in the evening, so hopefully all the headaces, tiedness and thirst will go and I will start to feel like a normal person again

Give body time to adjust to a new regime (depending on how drastically you are changing things!!!!), other than that talk to your hcp's about headaches....have you been put on any different meds that could have these side effects etc etc....

Changing to a diabetic way of life can be a huge change for people, and bodies can find this difficult to adjust to physically....just think what you are are probably going through mentally..and alter this to your body's physical state as well.....

Give time to adjust,,,,if in doubt talk to hcp's.....

..I am on a 5mg Blood pressure tablet and nothing for my T2

I hope that if I can drop from 16 stone to 14 stone in the near future it will improve my problems?

Is it the insulin resistance or lack of insulin that is resulting in the wobbly heady tiredness feelings?
If so will the weight loss and exercise eventually sort this out?

If not then I must have something else wrong with me, I am really fed up at the moment I just want to feel ok daily! the only time i feel ok is from waking up..walk to the car..drive to work..then its all down hill until bed time!

Hi Dazzy,

Continually feeling unwell may have another cause.

It could be that your BP medication is not suitable?

Most Type 2's are insulin resistant, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insulin_resistance
You might be better off with some diabetes medication, no shame in that.

You do not mention your blood sugar readings. If these are not coming down then that could be another reason.

If this is how you feel every day then I would make an appointment with your G.P.

Im over 7 weeks in now and i still feel lousy in the mornings like a hang over when i wake up - My diet is healthy now and low carb but only prob is i cant stop losing weight ive gone from 10st 8 to abot 9st 12 and i dont wanna lose anymore as i wasnt overweight anyway

i have felt lousy and groggy in the morning for as long as i can remember,

you have 1 thing i wish i had and thats the losing weight bit,

maybe you might best to go and see your GP and just get checked
