I'm looking for helping T1 husband again. Now we've found a way of getting through the night without drams. He has an ulcer on his leg, about 3 inches above the ankle. It's been dressed every few days by the nurse, but isn't getting much betteer. Of course, It would do better if he didn't pick at it. I'm going to get him some longer socks to help that problem. However, I'd welcome anyone's experiences of getting rid of one of these.

Poor Mr and Mrs Hanadr :-(

I had leg ulcers on both my legs when I was suffering neuropathy, very slow healing, try to give him extra vitamin C caps/tabs and apply Manuka honey to the ulcer, I didnt know about that back then when I had ulcers, but I have since got to know a few diabetics that have had this treatment and it works.
Actually private hospitals and clinics do use active manuka honey externally and internally for treating various ailments, but the NHS doesnt. Private patients can also get the very expensive Comvita dressings (these are impregnated with manuka honey, but cost an arm and a leg)

I hope this is of some help to you, and that you are all getting better again fast

I have read an article which says honey doesn't help, but I'll really try the vitamin C. I'm getting tired of mopping blood up in my bathroom. Good thing we have a scarlet floor!!

It's so common here probably because of so many old folks that we have a specialist Leg Clinic. For some treatments we had to take mother to the Big Hospital. Do you have any similar specialist services you can get him referred to?
