Folks,
After a 5 month wait I am going into hospital Monday 15 June for my triple bypass operation, maybe a couple of others bits n bobs when the surgeon gets in there and sees what is going on.
I may not be on the forum for a few days but will be back online when I go to recuperate at my brother's and wife's home the week after the op.
Enjoy what each day may bring.

Good luck mate! Make sure they get it right!

Watch out for the diabetic recommended food!

Hope to see you soon, giving good experienced advice!;)

Take care and best wishes:)

Hi Alan,
Its 13 yrs since I had my quad job, mind that was before I had diabetes, or at least before I was diagnosed, my advice would be to take it one day at a time, be gentle on yourself, don't fret too much if your numbers go squiffy but try to keep them reasonable, if you feel tired sleep and gentle exercise, don't do what I did and go for a 5 mile hike the week I came home, shattered myself and put myself back weeks.
Good luck my friend, will be watching out for your return.

Hope all goes well for you, I had my bypass 23 years ago, before I was T2 .. But at the time there was a T1 diabetic in the same ward as me for recovery and the staff were very pro active to look after his diet. This was at the London chest hospital. If they still offer the one week of rehab about three months after your op, then I would say do go to it .. It was the best thing I could have done to assist my recovery as my op went slightly wrong!
We should have a zipper club in the forums .. That will be fun ...

Good luck and wishing you a very speedy recovery, just don't try to rush things and you will soon be back posting, will be thinking of you

Fingers crossed for you Alan.

Do you know what time you're scheduled on the list? I'd like to send positive vibes for your life-changing op.

I had one 13 years ago, a quadruple. One thing I was not told is that when you wake up you have to breathe WITH the ventilating machine and not against it. A small detail but very important, I almost panicked. Wishing you all the best and a smooth and quick return to your normal daily routine.

Thank @andbreate - not sure. They only have the two slots am and pm. Hope its the am slot as I don't like hanging round doing nothing, much better and happier at hanging round doing something.
