Hello from Alaska

Hi there!! My name is Brooke and I am 15, I live in the beautiful state of Alaska. I play volleyball and basketball competitively! I was diagnosed with Type 1 a little over a year ago and haven't came across anyone in the same boat. I joined this forum, hoping to meet some people who understand what I am going through:smile:

I was also diagnosed type 1 about a year ago, I still struggle with it but I have also recently been diagnosed with a form of epilepsy and I have been told that I am no longer allowed to swim which was my favourite sports activity. I have decided now though that my health women not ruin my life I may not be able to swim but I can still go to the gym and do other things. I have had many health problems through my life but I have to live my life the way I want obviously with some sense but still live it my way.

I'm sorry that your not able to swim, but when one door closes two more open. I really hope you find a sport or an other activity that will take swimming‘s place:) Are you able to go for runs?

Not on my own and with a little girl my husband can't come with me as he had to stay with her. That's why I tend to go to the gym so I can do the exercise and have people around in case anything happens. But I'm going to take it a step at a time as I can't rely on people for the rest of my life so I'm going to try gradually building up what I do on my own and see how I get on.

Good for you and good luck to you!! I understand how it is not being able to be independent, it really stinks! If you ever want to talk I will be here for you! :)
