I was diagnosed with Type II Diabitis in 2011. My doctor gave me 6 months to change my diet and reduce my sugar level. It worked and until last month, watched what I ate and had no problem. Middle of January I started with pain in the middle of my abdomen, next morning the pain had got worse and moved to my right side. Called my doctor who arrived within 30 minutes, he called an ambulance and I was taken to A&E where they diagonosed Sepsis. I was in hospital being treated for 9 days. During this time they monitored my blood sugars which were staying around 20-22, on the day of my discharge I was seen by a diabetic nurse, who prescribed glipizide 80mg in the morning. My sugar levels stayed high, so I phoned the diabetic nurse who advised double your dose. My level did drop into the mid, high teens, and single figures first thing in the morning.
I am following a healthy diet, not over eating as have no appertite. I feel I have no backup, follow up , just left to cope. I cannot exercise yet as the Sepsis has left me very underweight and I have lost my muscles.
