Hi!
I'm 18 and live in Italy, in a small town in the mountains 2h from Venice- mum's english, dad's italian, and I often go to visit grandma in the Uk, which I love :)
I was diognised with T1 in jan 2003, no complications or sad stories to tell - quite lucky afterall :)

I've decided to join a forum because I've suddenly realised that what I miss the most is having someone to talk to about my diabetes(not only to my doc) and listening to different experiences. My friends try their best to understand me but I know that's nearly impossible as I don't know anyone else with my problem!! I guess you all know how it feels..
I've looked for Italian forums-dissapointing- so that's why I'm here..the only prob is that I'm not used to talk about diabetes in English(sounds funny, but that's what happens when you're bilingual) :D so I'm learning new words and, mostly, the different BG values.

I do rapid at meals and 6U lantus at lunch time+ 22 bed time: this is to try to bring my BG down 'cos my last hbA1c was 9.4%, which meant that I couldn't start my driving licence :x
I'm trying my best :D
well, I hope to find what I'm looking for and to be helpful too.
ciao!

Hi Lottie91,

Greetings from England! Your English is excellent!

I'm a Type 2 so I don't know very much about Type 1. However, there are a lot of great people on these diabetes forums - I'm certain that you will soon make friends with people in a similar situation to yourself.

Best wishes - John

Ciao Lottie.
Prego !

Right don't expect much more, I can't find my phrase book anywhere......

Welcome to the forum. Have a good look around especially the dedicated Type 1 area of the forum.
I hope we can be of assistance to you and perhaps help you with those problems you might need answering.

Arrivederci. :D

Hi lottie,

Delighted you could join us and bring some Italian sophistication!
In return, I hope we can help you get that HbA1c down to a better place.
Take a look around and see what you think.

ciao bella!

Hi Lottie
I understand what you mean about being bilingual and not having a particular vocabulary. I am bilingual in Czech and English and I sometimes find I have a word in one language, but not the one I'm using at the time.
