Hi, I'm a 49 year old ?type 2 ?type 1 ?they dont seem to be able to make up their mind diabetic, only diagnosed a few years ago, always ate a healthy diet, very fit and active, no idea how I ended up trying to control my sugar, I'm in metformin but not really very responsive to it.

Anyway.... hi everyone

I don't know how the effectiveness of Metformin could be measured very easily - even though it seems the tablet to prescribe when diabetes is diagnosed.
My doctors' description of a healthy diet has always been lots of carbohydrates, particularly starches, so that might be something you could work on to start off with if only to discover that it doesn't help.
Usually type twos respond by reducing blood glucose levels, but there are other ways to be diabetic.

Hi. If you are slim or have lost weight unexpectedly then T1 becomes more likely. There are two tests for T1 that the GP can arrange. As others have said, be aware that a healthy diet means keeping the carbs down

Hi! I am also suffering from the same type of problem. I thought I was healthy until I found out that I'm not a year ago. I was devastated. But it didn't stop me from looking for something that can help me. Tried a lot of things that can stop me from suffering. Now I found something that helps a lot of diabetic person.

Hey!

So it could go either way eh, or any of a bunch of others, as there's more types than just 1 and 2... Did they do a C-peptide and a GAD test? If they can't figure out what you are, and metformin isn't having much effect, how are you controlling your bloodsugars? What are the bloodsugars like, (HbA1c?), and do you test at home?

We can't diagnose here, but we might be able to help get some control through diet and there's a bunch of people here who are in limbo, or were for a long time... So there's always someone around with ideas.
Good luck,
Jo
