I had antibiotics for an infection and got highs of 17. I drank water, walked etc and it came down to 11. Sress makes it worse so try not to worry toomuch. If in doubt speak to her GP

How long did your antibiotics take to work??

HI @Nadia19 I'm sorry you are suffering.

Honestly, I'd try not to stress too much. Illness is renowned for pushing up blood sugar (as is stress). If you are following sick day rules (checking for ketones and taking extra insulin as necessary) I suspect that it is just a question of waiting it out. But it's good that you are in touch with your team.

And yes I find I am more insulin resistant when I am sick and/or my levels are high. Hopefully your antibiotics will work soon.

When I've had antibiotics in the past, they typically took a couple of days to start having an effect - though the symptoms would usually start to abate before my blood sugars came down, and if it's a bad infection you may still be running high even as the antibiotics are finished, hopefully by that point your body has the upper hand.

Hope you're feeling better soon, don't worry too much about the highs, just do what you can
