Meat ( yeah...protein in general ..I'm screwed ) but I am eating it now. Mornings, studying, crowds, Phobias a-plenty including vomiting, flying, travel in general actual, crowds, the outside (lol)
I am here in a bit of a panic. I live In Scotland, almost the other end of the country from Southampton where my dad lives, he has just been told that his cancer treatment is no longer working and therefore there's nothing more they can do. I want to go and see him whilst he is still ok, but this is a 7.5 hour train ride ( I don't have passport/photoID/Drivers license, and even if I did I am petrified of flying ) The train has one change roughly halfway into the journey. My question is does anyone know how I can manage my numb feet during this time, I always have numbness but if I sit for a wee while they become completely dead and it's a very uncomfortable feeling. I am worried that when I have to get up to change platforms and change trains I am not going to be able to if I cant feel them whatsoever, and the next train is a ten min change over! I am scared, I am also agoraphobic, I don't leave the house unless it's for the Drs or hospital so this is awful but something I know I have to do. Any advice about how to keep some feeling in my feet whilst sitting for 3+hours would be so gratefully received!

Get up every 30 minutes or so and walk to the loo or refreshment car. Keep your feet moving by wiggling your toes and your feet, don’t cross your legs or your ankles, make sure your feet are warm with good socks and I always wear footwear that I can slip on and off easily. Keep hydrated. I don’t have any foot problems but I do have an ankle that I badly broke a few years ago that swells slightly if I sit too long this is how I deal with it

Thank you! Taken all of those on board, and I'm actually thinking about getting up the courage to get the plane, Logan air say I can fly with a Citizens card that I see I can fast-track in 2 days, 1.25 mins seems so much more doable!

If you can manage flying despite your fears it would be so much better, very brave you are even thinking about it!
Are you on any medication for your anxiety, or do you have experience with this?
Might be worth contacting your GP with this tomorrow if you can to explain the situation. Perhaps they can prescribe something to take the sharp edges off your fears.

All the best to you and to your dad, I hope you'll have a wonderful time together!

Hi, I have the same problem.

I usually keep my feet lifted up, even in the car or bed (because at night it's worse).
Walking around at certain intervals also helps me.

My advice is to think about the space you'll have for your legs when choosing what to travel with.

Wish you the best!

Like Lovinglife, I have an ankle that I have broken twice, and it likes to swell up, so while I don't have your issues, maybe my exercise when having to sit for too long may help. It's very discreet and even the person sitting beside you won't notice. Alternate feet heel up/down, toe up/down, both together, then alternately. You don't have to do it for long each time, but try to do it often.
